  For what it's worth, I actually support it more in Pokemon's case since it promotes trading and doesn't encourage you to spend more money to get the full (or both) stories.

  You don't need to buy both versions of this either. Both have different, fully-featured stories, it's really on you if you decide you enjoy the game's story so much that you want to purchase another full game's worth.
