  Reasons for the character returns:
  3 of the most popular 4 adult characters from Awakening, Gaius, Tharja, and Cordelia (sorry, Chrom. Have fun in SMTxFE) were added as look-alike child characters in the Hoshido campaign.
  
  All 4 of the most popular 4 child characters from Awakening, Lucina, Inigo, Severa and Owain, return in the Nohr campaign, with the exception of Lucina, who is available from her Amiibo.

  The three children characters who returned are reportedly canonically the same child characters that we had in the party. After the events of Awakening, they left, so as to not interfere with their parents' time more than needbe. All three are marriage options, and Owain (now Odin) and Inigo (now Lazward) have associated children. (In FE:Fates, the children are associated with the father, rather than the mother.)

  The whole skinship thing (face-touching) is new and exclusive to Fates at present. Same with homo relationships. Also, to note: FE13 (Awakening) had a rating of 13+. FE14 (Fates/ IF) is 16+. 'Nuff said.

  Naw. It's the first conversation of its kind in the franchise, and all character-character subplots like that are optional. (They're in the character supports.) You can completely ignore the fanservice in this game. (With the exception of Camilla's boobs, but why the hell would you want to skip those? I will gladly let onee-chan smother me in with her bongos.)
