Visual Chat

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. For any non-overseas players, Visual Chat is a feature of Mabinogi that allows you to draw images and send them in your chat bubble, like this:

Now, this feature is disabled in NA through the use of features.xml.compiled in the client. However, the server fully supports visual chat! This means that it's easy to enable visual chat in NA, though you would most certainly be banned for doing so.

Why wasn't it ever enabled? Well, exec set up an image host so people using Aura servers could enable image chat. When he did, he found the most-drawn image was... a penis. Followed by boobs. Followed by multiple penises.

Ahh, maturity.

Not only most-drawn... it was almost exclusively penises, vaginas, and insults. (So many of them.)
It's too bad for the few gems you find among them.

I wonder about that. If the feature isn't enabled, will the client actually display the images? If not, it's rather unlikely anybody will ever know. Not that I want to encourage testing it =<

But yes, it's quite baffling how your average MMO playerbase has such high percentage of penis enthusiasts.

This isn't limited to MMOs.
My highschool math textbooks contained more anatomy than the biology books did. Never have I seen such a variety of crudely drawn penises.
