...drawing fan art, publishing via Patreon.
Here's her Patreon page: Sakimi Chan
I already knew that the Internet is an amazing force multiplier for those who are talented, but honestly, I was still a bit shocked at how much one could make as a fan artist, with fan art by definition traditionally being the hobbyist's domain (with people making the occasional cash selling commissions, prints at anime cons and whatnot.)
KR0NPR1NZ (ILYA KUVSHINOV) is another successful artist I've known about before. He makes around $178,000/yr and I thought he was an outlier before finding out about Sakimi Chan. He did promise to hire a writer and assistants after reaching the $2,000/wk milestone in order to produce a motion comic, however.
As a side note, I actually like KR0NPR1NZ's style a lot more. It feels a lot more professional, while the former looks more like the shiny fanart prints you see being sold at anime cons. His dA page: http://kr0npr1nz.deviantart.com/
Maybe this is common knowledge to everyone else, but I just thought I'd share.
