Anyway... because items use the 4-byte RGB color encoding you can technically have 256*256*256 different hair colors, also known as 16.7 million. This is in contrast to eye colors, which use a single byte, for only 256 possible colors.
The game limits your choices, though, because devCat's a dick sometimes, or maybe they just can't figure out a proper color picker. Non-standard hair color has been sighted on NA, but it's limited to GMs and hackers. Aura, however, doesn't impose this restriction, since one can use the >haircolor command to look simply fabulous.

Some of you may have guessed where this was going, especially those of you who picked up on me supposedly forgetting the "A" component of colors. Since you can color hair like any normal item, you can also have... flashy hair. In Mabi, flashiness is controlled by the A byte.
