What is Kantai Collection (also known as Kancolle)? Definition may vary, depending on how we approach this quite interesting subject. On one hand, it comes down to dumb semi-idle game that heavily relies on RNG. On the other, it's an unbelievably popular browser-based CCG which in mere months has amassed the biggest fandom on the eastern part of the globe, beating even the fan-favourite Touhou.
As for more technical description: you are managing fleet of (mostly) Japanese warships from WWII. That's pretty much it. There is a catch though. As you may have noticed, the ships take form of cute animu girls, voiced by popular Japanese actresses, with plenty of fan-service involved.
There is however some reason in this madness as every little detail (equipment, upgrades, some dialogue etc.) reflects actual historical facts.
I've been playing for three days now and there are signs of stopping. Being the weeaboo I am, I feel like a child in candy shop AND I've learned quite a lot about recent history of Japan.
Here's some useful links:
http://kancolle.wikia.com/wiki/Kancolle_Wiki - the wiki. Quite self-explanatory.
http://www.himeuta.net/ - every question you can think of is probably already answered here. But you can ask in this thread as well.
Oh, and you can get married in this game. Don't ask.
