And here's the interesting fact... If you manage to fail the step6 on the rental weapon, you can buy the new one again... Or well, at least, according to few players.
So seeing as we all had the rare chance to acquire step5 rental demonic weapons from this fine event, I decided to take advantage of it and attempt to step6 cause why the frick not? I ended up succeeding in step6ing, but I do wonder if Nexon will be able to remove this weapons from me, even though its personalized to me now

The rental weapons are literally a different type of weapon than the normal forms we can get.
The first hint is that their properties are different (no talent requirements), they also can't be enchanted and stuff. One of the bigger hints is that the name is different and says (Rental) at the end. Outside of enchants, there is no system to alter an item's name in Mabinogi. Any item with a different name than normal is literally a different type of item.
This actually includes S and R weapons normally, when you stick stones it actually changes an item's ID/class (because holy crap this game is built on hacks and workarounds).
And checking the IDs...

The weapons are already R, so there's no way to change their class ID that I'm aware of. All they have to do is wipe out items of a specific class/ID to remove them. So if you want to try to keep these, the best bet is to put them in really weird places that might not be hit by the removal script.
Like if there's some situation in which an NPC might hold a weapon for you and then give it back later, or if you have some place you can stick a weapon that's non-standard and retrieve it later or something.

even though they are r5 and can go to 6 and r1 reforge non enchantable are they worth keeping? early-mid game i can see it being worth in a way, but end game not really imo
That's actually one of your character's inventory tabs. If the Lost Item retrieval still works, potentially that?
The control bars aren't too horrible and neither are the guns, though no infinite replacement after the end is meh. The staff is bad. even though they are r5 and can go to 6 and r1 reforge non enchantable are they worth keeping? early-mid game i can see it being worth in a way, but end game not really imo
