General Questions and Advice Seeking

  Hello Players!
  I just have some general Mabi questions for ya'll. Most of which are opinion related.
  I've always enjoyed Mabinogi's game mechanics and content but I've had a hard time getting fully immersed in the game because there is just soooo much going on. I have an idea of what I'd like to do, but have a lot of questions on how to get started.
  I'm just going to list them below, feel free to answer any you'd like. Thanks!
  
  1. What's a good way to earn money in Mabi? I'm assuming selling NX items are an option, which I'm ok with. What are some good suggestions and what are the going rates? (I'm on Mari)
  2. I think I'd like to try a sort of Spellsword build. What skills should I be focusing on first? Any other information and suggestions on this are greatly appreciated.
  3. I really don't know much about the Paladin/ Dark Knight thing. Anyone have a really basic run down?
  4. Other than Combat and Magic, what are some other relevant skills/ talents that are relevant to Spellsword-ing?
  5. What kind of weapon sets are best for this type of thing?
  6. Fun question! What's your favorite character (as in your own character) on Mabi and why? Also, what's been the most helpful resource for you on Mabinogi thus far?

  1. You'll need to check around other shops in Belvast for pricing on your server, but reforging tools (fine normally, but refined while they remain in shop for now) are the main NX-sell for players.
  
  2. If you mean like using melee on 1 set and a staff on the other, sure. How much do you already have ranked? Your core masteries and basic skills are always a must (specific melee weapon masteries not so much), and for heavy-hitters you can get a lot of mileage out of lightning rod and bash with that set.
  
  3. DK used to be good for mages because it gave int. Int is now insanely easy to cap without trans, plus transforming removes your titles which is a HUGE loss when you have 90 matk in those. Control is frankly useless. The only benefit DKs have is 100% passive defense activation for added ping, and being portable party heal trainers at a mana tunnel. DKs do get more health and mana, but considering hydra transmutation is the only really important alchemy skill, pallys win there too. Really wish I could revert my decision now that the game has changed so much. DK has become obsolete.
  
  4. Stat gain really. Int from the basic music skills and holy arts talent, str from ninja and lance talents and many ninja skills, a few life skills for each, http://wiki.mabinogiworld.com/view/Stats_and_Skills Find what's most efficient for you.
  
  5. Celtic druid staff for magic, race-specific for melee. Humans want dual-CRK (but good luck affording that), giants probably want fanatic+vales, pilgrim + avon for elves? (giant and elf will change once g20 hits)
  
  6. Not sure I understand the favorite character part. For resources the wiki is great, and these forums are the best place to fill in the gaps and correct the misinformation on the wiki.
