Mabinogi is a rather buggy game. To use technical terms, it's
hella' buggy. However some bugs can be pretty amusing as well. This thread aims to be a collection of various bugs alongside examples and reproduction methods.
- Emotes
- Outfits
- Bug: Wear a robe and wings at the same time (client-side).
Desc: If you wear a robe, the dressing room will let you preview wings by clicking on them. This won't actually remove the robe (unlike with other slots), showing that a robe and wings could function properly in Mabi (as much as that counts) if given different slots.
- Bug: Animated wings can attach to your hand.
Desc: This works with any wings that have animations, like the SAO, Demon Wings, or butterfly/cutiefly wings. Use the Spread Wings action, then manually place or remove an item from your hand. The wings will detach from your back and center around your hand as you do the sheathing animation. It happens with other sudden animations as well (like Rock Paper Scissors).
- Bug: The Ronin outfit likes to eat half of your weapons.
Desc: Wear the Ronin outfit with bare hands, and during the part of the animation where you're holding the sword, place an item into your hands. The primary part of the model won't load, only the second part. For some simple weapons this makes them invisible, for others they show up as just floating parts.
- Bug: The Royal Academy Assistant Teacher Outfit has a stalking sword.
Desc: This outfit (and perhaps others, have to test) have an object following them far, far below the player. It was perhaps thought that this wouldn't be visible under normal circumstances, but it shows up in places like Karu with the transparent floor, and might show up in other areas and on other oufits. It might be an object to help prevent other bugs regarding in-hand items (like the Ronin has).
- Skills
- Bug: Celestial Spike can perform an actual kill in PVP.
Desc: Use Celestial Spike and then change channels, the attack will continue and if it kills the target, it doesn't count as PvP damage since you're no longer in PvP with them.

- Bug: Crisis Escape locks the camera to the wrong target.
Desc: Go inside an area that has a locked camera (like inside an NPC house or something). If somebody uses Crisis Escape, when they come out of it everybody else's camera will follow that person. It'll continue to shift if more people use Crisis Escape.
- Maps
- Bug: Corrib Valley has a hole in it.
Desc: There's a gap in the collision for Corrib Valley that allows you to just walk straight out of it. The video shows where it is.

- Items
- Bug: Moon Stones let you ignore forced teleports.
Desc: Moon Stones, mined from the housing areas, allow you to optionally teleport back to where you mined them. When you use the item you're given a prompt whether to teleport or not (comes after the party confirmation window if you're with a party). While this prompt is up, you will ignore other forced teleports. This means you can go into Provocation, and once you're inside the circle bring the prompt up and just leave it there. You won't be teleported back after your "turn" is done.
If you have something to contribute,
please make sure it still works first. I intended for this list to be bigger but they fixed a specific hot air balloon bug, they fixed the infinite life drain status bug, they fixed the rain casting cooldown reset, etc. A lot of older bugs and holes in maps are getting silently fixed over time.

During forced kidnappings, those housing crystals would have been useful.

Robe and wings already do work... you just wear a robe in the normal tab and wings in the style tab...
I know this and I've never even owned a pair of wings.

^
I was just about to point that out but you beat me to it. It was designed that way from the get go when they advertised the first pair of wings with nuadha Robes.
I've also gotten it to work in the reverse if you have other clothing in style shots. If you put a robe in the style tab at that point and then put wings in the normal slot, that also works.

Bug: Lock yourself in crisis escape
Description: You can lock yourself into Crisis escape by transforming in a shadow mission and then exiting the mission while still transformed. It doesn't always work but I've had it happen a few times. The only way to undo it is to log out or change channels.

It would only prevent you from being warped, but if they were trying to blackrobe you, you would have still been blackrobed.

And you actually lose your blessings. Woo. How the hell did they fix Mirage Missile but not Celestial Spike.
I remember back when Giant/Elf PvP was more common, if someone on your mount who wasn't in pvp mode got hit, they could die in the same way as here, so a harmless stroll with PvP on could cause someone to lose their blessings. It still happens, too.

You can use "end transformation" from the transformation journal while in this state to get out. Occasionally it bugs like this if you try to escape and cancel too fast as well, so it's good to know how to get out of it.

This happens to me more often than it should, due to the fact it can also happen if you cancel crisis escape too early before the skill bubble pops up. Latency thing.
[S]And then, the only way I know to cancel it is to ask someone to lure an enemy over or use a pet, an attack will knock you out of it. If anyone knows a different method I'll really appreciate it.[/S]

I discovered the courtship bug shortly after the gesture came out. One of my favorite things to mess with to this day. Its also possible to use the bug to make your weapons become invisible instead of turning into flowers.

I never even thought to use that button ^^: Well I guess it'll keep me from having to log out if it happens in the future.

Would walking with WASD get you stuck count? I have a video to show it.

Bug: Sheeptuplet actually goes twice its speed.
Desc: Amusingly enough, the sheeptuplet's speed is far beyond the client-sided and expected 322. The amusing part is the client doesn't understand it and is by far the worst displacement error known. Its bad enough that when going long distances, you will be FAR ahead of where your humble sheep is telling you are, and actually in server-time, wasting time sitting around while your client is telling you that you're not there yet.
Bug: School desks break the hide equipment when you have a shield equipped in either slot.
Desc:

Bonus Ducks: Night Owl + Sword = Sudoku.

I went to Karu and tested this with the Math Teacher & RA Casual Uniform (M), I didn't notice any stalking swords. Might only just be this outfit in particular. Of course, I haven't tested the other female teacher uniform, though. Hope this helps somewhat?
EDIT: Nope, not there with the home ec outfit either.
