I've noticed whenever I try to sit down and play a game, any game, even my favorite games, I quickly become bored. I can no longer sit down and have long gaming sessions. I don't like this because they used to bring me the most entertainment and joy and now I'm not even motivated to play anything anymore. The only thing I do for fun now is listen to music and talk to people. I mean this is mostly a gaming website so I'm not really sure if any of you have experienced this before.

I "outgrew" video games like, um, 8 years ago maybe? The only games I've seriously played since then were for the social aspect. FFXIV, Mabinogi for a whopping 5 years, and now League, which i probably play because I hate myself.
Only time I get like ":( " is when I wanna play something like sim city/zoo tycoon/caesar and I turn it off 5 minutes after I start it. All classic games I would play for hours everyday.

I haven't "outgrown" them in the same sense, but I used to be able to grind for long periods of times on standard MMO type games. Now? If there's a grinding aspect, I'm turned off of doing it unless I have friends to keep it from being so damn boring or there's some kind of 2x event like in Mabi. Aside from that, still game all day err day.

It happens.
Video games don't typically bore me. If i'm playing a game and suddenly decide I want to hop on a forum, i'll do just that. Humans are social creatures, so understand and adapt accordingly.

Truthfully, I feel the exact opposite. haha
I'm so busy with school that I hardly have time to really sit down and enjoy a game. I'm basically a paper factory with how much I'm writing. Plus, I'm preparing a proposal to submit to a conference being held here for my area of study (a great opportunity to break into my field made possible by one of my professors) which equates to most of my days being spent studying, writing, or reading. Which is fun in its own masochistic way, but I have some ps4 games lined up that I want to try out and I really want to play No Man's Sky, whenever they decide on a release date. I also like occasionally engaging for a few days in random mmos like Aion, just for the sake of enjoying exploration.
I would love to have the free time to game for an afternoon and unwind, but it would feel like I'm neglecting my work. I guess I'm waiting for winter break. I suppose since I'm busy with other things, gaming is like a treat for me now and I don't have much opportunity to grow tired of it.

I don't know about outgrowing them since when I actually find something I like I play it a lot. The problem is as time went by I find most games to be complete garbage so I hardly play anything.

Pretty much how I feel. That said sometimes I do get bored and stop hopping on certain games once in a while and eventually come back later.

I've actually been experiencing this myself lately. At most I can dedicate myself to maybe an hour or two of gaming at most before I desire to watch youtube videos, browse tumblr, or just have a desperate need to talk to people. Only issue is, my need to talk is outgrowing people's ability to talk. Which in turn, turns into entire massive skype blocks with me just rambling on and on.
It depresses me :(
Although, when a new Touhou, Pokemon, or Zelda game comes out I'll play that for hours and hours on end no problem. Mabinogi or Runescape update also gets me playing for some long sessions and then I get bored a week or two later.
