If you come across people who like doing the same sort of stuff as you, do that stuff with them.
I delete people off my friends list around ten times before I actually sort them into a permanent group (I always warn them of this in advance). It helps root out the degenerates and ne'er-do-wells. Unless we chat in Skype or something, it's hard for me to differentiate one seemingly anonymous player from the other without a solid amount of social interaction.
So long as you're courteous when time permits and tactful otherwise, you can't go wrong.
