i have as lovely challenge i thought would be nice tio have every year, starting from the first of November, to the end of the year.

if you cant read the title, its a musical composing challenge! well tons of people do this in mabi so whats the big deal?

yes! it is made to be so at least.

you, as your self, or you all, if you are in a group, must compose and play the song i've chosen this year. but before i just give it to you, i must give you a head's up!
- You can use multiple scrolls and party members to play the song
- You can play it your self with video editing
- You must record it for me to see or hear
- There are no restrictions, so use any style, manipulation, or editing, to get the song right!
that said, there most certainly be a reward. i am going to ask the head honcho if i can get a special button like thing for the winners of these challenges. there can be any amount of winners, but your song must be judged by me ( and most likely two others on the site, WHICH I AM HIRING AS OF RIGHT NOW.) :smoke:[SIZE="1"]J1[/SIZE]:sigh:[SIZE="1"]J2[/SIZE]:spit:[SIZE="1"]J3[/SIZE].

Now not all of these challenges will be this long. this one is 44 minutes of music! trust me, next year wont be so hard. maybe 20 at the most, might even be 10 minutes.

but start off hard! so you're seasoned for the coming years!

now there is a deadline, but it's very large, so shouldn't be too much of a problem.

trust me, people see a challenge, they atleast try. im sure atleast one if not many, are working on this right now... maybe XD. next year it wont be so hard.

I would too because it sounds so fun to attempt but sadly i forgot how to compose misic since its been like 4 years since i messed with it :(

i plan to learn my self one day. it would be fun to create songs for people, for free or a small fee. more and likely for free

I feel as if unless the rewards are extraordinarily good, this "contest" would draw no interest because while it's true there will be some up to the "challenge", the fraction of individuals willing to spend hours of their time for this would be very small.

Well, im just a woman with an idea. im not rich in mabi, and even if i was, if someone did this, but their mained character was in a different server other than mabi, they cant get a reward in game.

im not rich on here. having a very minimum amount of gold and posts, i cant really make that a prize.

really the badge only thing i can even offer at the moment. im sorry im not some fancy pants like some other people are.

i feel kinda insulted, but at the same time i do understand what you're saying. it does look like the reward isn't worth it. but i think having something like the little badge i've made, to signify that you/ you and your partners, have literally completed something like this. that you as a person/group worked to make something that was that challenging, that difficult.

its like a game. at the end of lets say... super meat boy. what do you get? you dont get money, or a profit. you get the ending, the credits that say you've beaten the game and you conquered that difficult task.

same concept. so you may not think the reward is all that great. but in the end you aren't looknig to make some vitrual money or real money. not for something anyone else could get by buying, like a whole bunch of nx, or some pet from the ingame store

you're doing it to prove that you could do it. and you have a badge, all shiny and special, to prove that you did. just like credits to a game.

i hope that makes sense.

(Seriously? 44 minute video? I know you're not looking for perfection, but as a reference, note that a 3 minute song requires approximately 5-7 players playing it. This is in addition to the fact that badges on Nation mean very little considering the small community which is sadly smaller than what exists on the Nexon forums at the moment. Your theory of said badge being a trophy of accomplishment is thrown out the window because of this since the majority of Mabinogi players won't even see this "trophy". Even then, do you really think it'll become a trophy? In society, persistence is considered good, but excessive persistence is considered "creepy". Say someone actually won this event; he'll be ridiculed as someone who literally has no life instead of someone who is patient and skilled.

On another note, if I had to make a suggestion, I'd say NX-rewards are most appropriate. It works for all the servers and once rewarded, it's up to the player to do whatever he wants to do with it.

If you can't find the resources (aka money) or the time to do this, then I would have to suggest against making these kinds of event ideas in the first place. I know I'm being extremely pessimistic in your eyes, but I'm also trying to be reasonable. If there are less than 20 registered members active on Mabination most of the time, then neither this ridiculous event or its rewards will be worth the time for anyone.

no offense or not, i still feel very offended.

the reward is too small: well once again, what do you get at the end of a game that probably made you spend PLENTY of hours to finish. the credits. thats it. and once again, for people, that can actually be the reason they play a game, or finish a peice of art, or really anything that doesn't give you some monetary return. to finish it and say you beat/did it.

the reward has little meaning to people here: i highly doubt that. it might to you, but to another, it might be a really neat thing to say " i literally worked Insanely hard(either by my self or with others) to earn this. i am very VERY proud about this." and those kind of people i think DO exsist in this place.

I suggest An NX reward: well would you like to supply the moeny for so? WHAT, DID I HEAR A NO?... look, i already stated i dont have the money. and jsut because i don't, does not mean im gonna stop with ideas like this, or that i wont do this again next year, the year after, and so on.

you might be trying to be reasonable. but your reasons dont really make sense. you are most literally suggesting i stop the event, and give up. all because you think the prize should be better, or that the task is too hard

people doing this anyways will know what they are getting into. did i not say in the post, that it would be near impossible?

if you dont like the idea, or if you dont like the challenge this year. then its as simple as not doing it. ignoring it. perhaps your plan is to make me change my mind. to make me give a prize someone can use to spend on items, or actually things in real life. games on steam even. and you know what, when i get the money, you don't think i wont make that a reward that year?

maybe you'd like me to just change the song, something less dificult. and to that i say again, no. for the reason that it is my event, and my idea. if i want the song to be 5 hours and be the most complex thing in history (no that will not actually happen. as i said in the orriginal post, it will never be this long again. and perhaps the longest it will ever be anymore would be 20 minutes. still a challenge but not as hard as this.)

if i seem upset, i most certainly am. so please. before you reply, take in account all that i've said.. and to keep this thread from being too long i might lock it and have entries be send to me privately. especially if unproductive posts like this keep being made.

Please keep discussion of the reward's adequacy to PMs. Lexianan should be able to run the event how she wants, if people disagree with how things are done they can skip on the event.

yeah.. thats part of the reason why i allow ANY form of editing to happen. if a person just makes the scrolls. plays the parts of the songs, recording them, and mash them together, that would totally count. hell even just taking notes of instruments in mabi and just using them to recreate it rather than make a thousand scrolls, thats acceptable

im thinknig of extending the dead line to the end of febuaray. that would be enough time im sure

Just bumping.. not sure how this works.. but its a try!... its been a while since i was here, and the deadline is so close. i haven't gotten any entries, so well... if this turns out to be a bust, then some time this year, ill try again, with a less impossible song. the reward with be the same, a badge of completion and a game for the winner, and a badge of participation and bravery for anyone else who tried!
