In what is literally a stomach turning post, Andy Towle highlights the President of Montana's Big Sky Tea Party Association's Facebook comments in support of "traditional" marriage. The comments on his original post turned to jokes about murdering gay people, using the murder of Matthew Shepard as a joke.
Tim Ravndal expressed support for a commenter who (in apparent reference to the Matthew Shepard murder) said, "I think fruits are decorative. Hang up where they can be seen and appreciated. Call Wyoming for display instructions."
Answered Ravndal: "Where can I get that Wyoming printed instruction manual?"
The original commenter then responds, "Should be able to get info Gazette archives. Maybe even an illustration. Go back a bit over ten years."
This is bigotry and hatred, plain and simple. As long as laws don't treat us as equals, ignorant and hate-filled homophobes can continue to broadcast filth like this, feeling validated by our government that we are somehow worth less.

This is just so...horrible and cruel, really. However, I really am not surprised...
My standards for people have lowered much, much more these days.

That's not nice, but I doubt things like these kinds of Facebook statuses would stop even if gay marriage became legal.

Worry not! One day the world will be different. :)
We might not live to see this day, but it's definitely coming!
For now, we'll have to deal with many people who are similar to this Andy Towle; people who hold onto their traditions too strongly and are unable to embrace new morals, customs and lifestyles. Although there is nothing wrong with having your own strong morals, I don't agree with attacking other people for their own morals, even if they're different to your own. That's a mistake Megabyte made last night, if you haven't seen that thread.
But change is surely coming. People like us are more open-minded than our ancestors and that's definitely something to celebrate.

My view of people has gone haywire. First time i logged into 4chan it went down the crapper.
Then i heard about them catching criminals and it skyrocketed... Anyways humans are humans, and humans can just be plain idiotic at times no?

As much as I appreciate this article's viewpoint in defending gay rights, it's being paranoid about the murdering part of it.
Mentioning the tragedy of Matthew Shepard is one thing, but implying that these people even thought of murdering gays is being irrational.

They always take everything overboard and give themselves such a bad name.

I'm not sure if Ravndal fully understood what Scranton said, so the uproar should be more against Scranton that against Ravndal. Scranton perfectly understands his veiled reference, but Ravndal is paying for something he might not have understood before.
