Has been a week since release.
I thought you guys would be more interested, seeing how everyone has a damn Eevee/ Eeveeloution pet icon shit thing.
Discuss.
I went with Fennekin as character and Riolu as partner. A doomed love relationship, this one is. Yeah.
Keep spoiler tags because Europe won't be getting that shit until 2016 Feb.
Love the music, especially the partner's theme.

I'm loving that it's a really hard game, but i have my complaints and bitches, personally i dont feel they made it hard the right way. normal mobs 2 shotting you and bosses 1 shotting you doesn't make for good gameplay. The game feels like it was built around you spamming op sleepwands for every huge boss or else you get 1 shot, they really could have balanced the boss difficulty a lot better, it's not fun getting 1 shot, but it's also not fun sleepwanding every boss and then letting it become a dps race. I really hate how item dependent this game is, and the fact the first 5 hours is one giant tutorial.
*Edit* The games difficulty level scales from impossible to fairly easy depending on just how many items you want to use and abuse, also paying 555 gold for a save point midway through the dungeon, really? they couldn't just give you the free save like every other game? LOL
The best example for this is
Salamence, it's a forced boss, level 50 when you're like 11-14, you have the option of sleep wanding, or getting 1 shot, he takes like 30-50 hits to kill and will 1 shot any party members, this boss IS NOT possible without op item abusing
Besides that i think it's a terrific game, it's definitely nicely done and looks to have a shit load of missions to do after the main story, definitely something that'll keep me busy for a good long while.
Riolu/pikachu for my starter setup, riolu does insane damage, pikachu is really lackluster though, their damage on average is on the very low side unless against a bird, while riolu does amazing neutral damage

Choosing Riolu as your main character causes the game to go into hard mode, apparently.
My emo Fenne-, Braixen is only 33 and she's doing 244 damage with Ember.
The game is so good, I made this:

I didn't have much trouble with the game until extremely late game.
Maybe you haven't been farming enough revival seeds?

Farming a shit load of revival seeds is just as annoying as having to sleep wand everything, that's still huge item dependence lol
Don't misunderstand me, I never said i was having trouble with the game, actually. I'm going through it rather nicely, but it's still forcing a lot more item requirement than ever before, items have NEVER been required so much in a pmd game than they are in SMD, i've played all of them, and never needed much to actually get through the game, sure previous post game steps the difficulty up and starts demanding you use a lot of items, but SMD does that within the first few hours of gameplay, not to mention you have to use an item to save mid dungeon when that was a non item related feature in all the other games lol
TL;DR. ALL i'm saying is the burden of items in SMD is much higher than I'd like for a game like this. It's still a knockout and i'm enjoying every minute of it, and it really isn't all that hard if you do abuse items like they want you to.

I went with a Chikorita and a Riolu as my partner. I really love how they make your partner really really lovable in this one with the bold personality and everything !!
God, the forced Salamence boss early on was awful as a Chikorita. Giving it Rage as well as making it LV50 definitely shouldn't be necessary. As if it wasn't already hard enough being able to KO anyone near LV15 with one of those alone...
If it wasn't for those OP status effect wands and cheap Reviver Seeds at the town shop, it would've been nearly impossible to beat.
I guess that's why they made you go to school to learn about the importance of items beforehand huh...
It made me cry just like its previous predecessors. I'm very sad but very happy at the same time that I got the game though.

Thanks for basically proving my point lmao

Salamence was kinda easy. The one I had trouble with was Yveltal, and that's because I was seriously underleveled.
Beat it with items, tho.

Just got this game, will tide me over while i am in a hotel for 3 weeks. Other than that, not much to say except even in the beginning the item dependence is wtf.

People complained Gates of Infinity was waaaaaaaaaaay too easy so they decided to show people how hard they could make it. I'd still prefer this harder game over something extremely easy. I just feel sorry for any kids who buy this game because it's pokemon.

Item dependency is like a norm in playable eroges.

This is my very first PMD game and I gotta say that I really enjoy it.
My favorite activity is rescuing others so...if there's any problems, I'll be happy to help.
By the way, what are you guys and who's your beloved partner? I was a Snivy (now a Serperior) and my partner was a Riolu (now a Lucario). I thought because of our shared weaknesses that this game was going to be extremely difficult to complete but..it wasn't. Then again if push ever come to shove I would use items.

Fennekin and Riolu.
It was a doomed love relationship at the start. I thought I could have gotten my supposed "Cute" Fennekin to evolve into a Braixen and have a pairing with a "Cool" Lucario, but no. All I got was cheese at the start and wine at the end.
Can't evolve during the game itself, anyway. But hey, at least I have my Braixen-Lucario pairing in the epilogue :^)

I enjoyed the game.
I came in to this expecting some very easy lack luster game but what I got was a pretty difficult game with a remarkable story that had me chuckling and going through multiple [UB]FEEL[/UB]trips of emotions through the story. I felt like the game had a good pace to it and nothing felt too remarkably unfair. Though I do admit that i sometimes I found my party wiping to unfair Pokemon placement but I don't blame the game too much because the dungeons are randomly generated. Really this game fixed a lot of the problems that I've had with the previous games and nerfed really over powered items while also promoting the use of items as well. In my opinion this is great because in the previous games I either stuck to using the same over powered items or never felt challenged to the point where i needed to use these items to avoid certain scenarios.
Would recommend to both veterans of the series and new comers.

Monster houses, though.
Run back into the corridor, snipe with ranged attacks.
