what changed though and why ?

Looks like a lot of clarification, they clearly state that packet logging and modding the client are against the rules now, but also outline some general guidelines for uploading gameplay videos (that you're allowed to as long as it's not behind a paywall).

Disabling nagel isnt packet logging or modding so no..... Unless it specifically states disabling it is bannable its not because it has nothing to do with messing with the actual client.

There's been a lot of fear-mongering in Facebook groups regarding how the new ToS may allow "evidence" from third party sites like this one or Facebook to be used against you, for example paypal transactions or harassment. Is there any legitimacy to those claims?

All I know is that a while back the admins of the main Facebook groups started PM'ing people who usually do paypal transactions and warning them to be smarter about wording their sales posts and to conduct all irl currency business via PM. Someone also posted some live chat screenshots where a GM corroborated that even things such as harassment outside of game could be actionable..... but I mean, live chat GMs are often clueless outsourced labor so yeah.

My thoughts on this in *general* line up with Oberynn's however, there are a lot of asslicking vigilantes who are going out of their way to get alternative payment users (or just people they don't like, under the auspices of alternative payment) banned.

Also if Nexon actually starts seriously banning people for modding they might as well just Nexon EU it.

So until these changes the list of game policies and rules and stuff was kinda' bare-bones. This update adds a lot of clarification and specific examples, so here's a list of some of the more interesting points.

    - Notable things that are specifically, undeniably, directly against the ToS (which means they can ban you immediately).

    - Things that are, in general, against the Code of Conduct (meaning banning is possible but they can do other stuff instead on a case-by-case basis depending on what side of the bed a mod woke up on that day)...

The rest of what's in there is the standard stuff that you'll find anywhere else.

As far as spreading your account info, the terms and such actually state multiple times that you're responsible for not letting anybody know your account info if you don't want anybody to know, and it states that Nexon is not responsible if people make the connection themselves if you post on facebook and stuff. I don't see anything about Nexon monitoring your Facebook account.

EDIT: They can, of course, look in-game to see what you're doing so if you post about botting on Facebook and somebody looks there and finds you in-game botting and screenshots it and sends in a ticket...

    • Potentially mirroring the website news posts, depending on stuff they're referencing that I don't see clarified (which is odd because they're very direct and clear about all the other more important things).

Wait, does that mean we're not allowed to put their news/announcement posts in our news section anymore or am I understanding this wrong?

Doesn't matter either way. Not changing anything about Nation for nexon's new ToS. Don't do anything actually illegal and don't help spreading cheats/hacks/mods is in a very simple form all we ask to respect here in regards to the ToS (and that's to keep gameplay fair for players rather than to help nexon).

I technically manipulate all mabinogi traffic in my network anyways by assigning them QoS markers so I guess I should be in nexon-jail.

I find it amusing they are going out of their way to stop data miners. However, I don't believe they can do jack squat about data mining KR's client. That's outside their jurisdiction and so it shouldn't stop anything our team does in terms of providing information.

    *shakes head*

Silly Nexon, you can't stop the flow of information. That is, unless KR straight out bans data mining. The mirroring Nexon News Posts is also very oddly specific, I mean it's not like we can exactly replicate their news posts (we can come close).

You know, I wonder if Nexon employees check sites out when they are at home. I mean it's completely possible that Sabina is checking stuff on the weekends when she's not in the Nexon Office. It would be impossible to detect that right? Also there's the possibility that Nexon may catch wind of what you are doing here by some brown nosers and they might mask their IP through VPN or other proxy services.

IP checking can only go so far unfournately and there are ways around it. Actually, getting a hold of VPN's that are very good at masking your IP isn't hard to get a hold of and I have access to one myself that I use for testing things that require specific geo based IPs. Though I'm sure you could get a list of all the proxy/vpn IPs out there and blacklist those.

I'm not going to accept the TOS, it's not legally binding, i could go download and data mine everything. What's going to happen to me. I get banned? I don't play your games anymore.

This is true, there is no legal ramifications to data mining publicly available data, so long as you can download the client without having an account, then legally there isn't anything they can do to stop it. If you have to be logged in to be able to download the client, then that's another story. By using an account, you unfournately are consenting to the ToS which is why the whole can you get the client without an account bit is important.

Legal loopholes truly are a godsend xD
