Alexina is a lot more populated than mari.
If you're talking about the 28 max totem I bought, even with Alexina's higher population it took several days for one person to get one for sale. It's not about the price, but about giving incentive for people to run the event more because the totem was simply that rare.
I haven't heard of anyone sell one besides the one I bought, so in my opinion it was worth every gold piece because otherwise I simply wouldn't have it.
