Have 1k AP on my elf and am total 6xx and I'm pure range. Wondering if I should stick with it or just go back to my 1k human mage.
(P.S. why do I have all these classic character cards on my account?

Anything is viable, but in general range of any kind is very inefficient as a beginner skillset compared to magic.
They also gave everyone a bunch of character cards since new accounts start with 6 now, and they felt old players deserved the cards as well.

I have R1 weaving on this guy and everything too zzzzzz any news on them adding more to range?
What else uses Dex anyways? I guess I should start looking into that.

No news of any saving graces for range, Hopes were put to rest when the ranged renovation fell flat.
Puppetry uses dex, but lately puppetry has been lackluster as its main uses are now confined to Lords and MA. Alban with puppets is murder.
And ranged is "viable" in the sense that it can hit like a truck.
Most do not consider it viable due to the sheer amount of effort it takes to get to that point in comparison to other skillsets. Especially due to ranged having the most required reforges in the game to come online.

I keep hearing elf magnum is still the highest potential DPS.

Nothing can outdo final hit. Nothing.

Actually, there was a talk about bash having higher DPS, at least for CRK. Calculation can be found here:
http://www.mabinogi.pe.kr/bbs/zboard.php?id=tips&page=1&sn1=&divpage=2&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=headnum&desc=asc&no=10108
It's about 1.07x more DPS, using CRK for both FH and Bash. Using FH with DDKs would be another story. Then again, there's the utility advantage for FH.
And as for elf magnum highest DPS, it'd be true with nearly flawless shots, which would require godly connection (or just perfect timing mechanics), godly gears, combo cards, etc.

^I've seen the bash/fh calc but it does not really apply to NA cause we simply don't bash as fast.
Also, other than a single unmovable target like barrier spikes even if bash had twice the DPS it'd still be inferior since in the time it takes to run up to another enemy you already wiped out half the room with final hit.

I get 20-50 ping on most games, but with Nexon's servers idk if it would be my fault even. Very frustrating using range with those fake accuracy numbers :(

20-50 ping is fine, and it also depends on how far you live away from the NA Nexon headquarters.
The connection problem is only the secondary question. Main questions should be, are you really going to be ranking all the grindy skills for dex, as well as making the gears, which is easily the costliest out of mabi gears, and the reforges?
My honest thought is that if you quit this game before, especially even before reaching a strong point in a skill set, I highly doubt you're going to go through with range. If you're really that determined, then you can go ahead, otherwise I would rather just start over, make a human, and just optimize for FH and bash. If you want to play elf, then I'd say go get basic magic done, clear contents with that while ranking skills related to range.

I already have weaving at R1, just concerned with Crash Shot and Support shot for now. I've got 1k+ Ap to spare as well. I might just switch my elf to magic, but I already have thunder AND Ice spear on my 1k+ human so whooo knows.

You need much more than R1 weaving, and weaving is a piece of cake compared to other life skills you'd have to do to get your dex up. If you're concerned with crash shot and support shot, try ranking blacksmithing and handicraft as well. Also worth noting that you have to rank urgent shot to get the sniper title now.
The reason I brought up magic was so that you'd have a better time clearing contents early game. Firebolt with r1 magic weapon mastery, fire mastery, and bolt mastery will basically make you be set for all the contents you'll be running early game. Later though, magic isn't really good without lightning rod, fireball, and firebolt. As for your human, it's much better to just invest in close combat skills and stats rather than magic.
I'm not trying to discourage you from ranking range. In fact, I'd actually speak for ranking range because in later contents, like Alban and Abyss dungeons, range shines pretty nicely, especially if you're an elf. But do know that there is an immense cost to this (much more than how it may appear for you), especially compared to other types of combat.

Is DUal Guns alright to pick up?
-
ironwoman wrote on 2015-12-27 01:27
It's good to use once your character is developed enough, but is even worse than range in the early stages, especially Elves who don't get easy strength early on.
Whatever you're going to do, you're eventually going to have to go through hard things to make it worth, like grinding out int from engineering or MC, blacksmithing just so that you can get the better numbers for magic and gunner, and similar can be said about str. For anything, you're going to have to suck it up and go through with it, so don't think looking into other skillsets will necessarily make the game easier (unless you're planning to just go through with your human and FH and bash the contents through). As bad as range might look to your biased eyes, you're eventually going to have to grind for others anyway. Just stick with one thing and go all the way with it. You can do guns if you like, but if you're doing guns because you don't want to do range, that's an extremely poor excuse.

Unlike most talents, Dual Guns use STR+Int, but barely give any STR+Int.
They rely on you being an accomplished character to begin with for their power.
