So I've been keeping an eye on the 1.8 minecraft modding scene and I think there's a sufficient enough of mods with decent features to spring into action for starting a 1.8 server.
However, before I start such a server, I want to be sure there is sufficient interest before I start investing in this venture. Below is a list of mods that the server would contain based on what is available currently.
Thaumcraft 5
Biomes o Plenty
Blood Magic
Hopper Ducts
Storage Drawers
Chisel 2
Chisel and Bits
Architecturecraft
Decoration mega pack
Redstone Paste Mod
If you guys would be interested in playing on such a server leave a comment in this thread and if there's enough interest I'd be willing to do it.
So far I have 4 people confirmed (Tetosan, Tropacat, myself, Tropa's friend) and 2 potential people (Chiyuri and Kenero).

1.9 will go official and then you wait another 6 - 8 months for the mods to work properly on it. Huge pain in the ass.
It's why I update my server every 1.5 - 2 years.

Modders estimated like maybe a year before mods get updated for 1.9.

Was so much shit that happened after M$ bought out mojang. Bukkit doesn't even officially exist anymore last I checked (updated from 1.7.2 to 1.8.8 mid-late 2015 and it was DMCA'd so I had to use spigot or something). So non-forge modding seems to be broken to hell so a year makes perfect sense. No plans to upgrade any time soon though.
No idea how forge is doing. Was never into their really huge game-changing mods, just want small utility mods so I went with bukkit.

I like my magical based minecraft. The forge scene has been going well. The big issue is the modding code for minecraft changed drastically from 1.7.10 to 1.8 so a lot of mod authors aren't moving to 1.8 while the ones who are have to re-work a significant portion of their code.
