Same here. One could think that ancient Ultima Online has already shown us that giving players too much freedom is waiting for a disaster to happen. But apparently few have learned that lesson.

I haven't kept that up to date with BDO, but if it's like what I've been hearing, my hype for it died long ago. This is from mmorpg.com about BDO:
The original version of the game up to CBT2 was very different,it had planned features that were either cut or completely removed or changed significantly:
Open world housing (changed to instanced)
Open world bosses (changed to solo summonable bosses)
Unrestricted auction house system (changed to dev enforced min/max pricing)
Player to player trade - removed
PvE group content - changed to 100% solo content
Naval combat - removed
Leveling speed increased about 3x-4x
Introduced vigor points consumption during processing steps in crafting
PvP was significantly changed as well
Open world PvP nerfed - removed low level PvP, imposed HEAVY penalties for killing outside waring guilds, conquest system nerfed. Basically restricted PvP to end-game guild v guild only.
Overall the game shifted from open world sandbox to single player game with guild PvP end game which has left many of the original fans feeling disenchanted.
If this is still true and how the game'll come to NA, then I'm not interested much at all. Might still try it out, but hype for me died down.
They still have open-world bosses that will require groups of people to fight, but the main-story quest bosses are pretty solo-able (People in the chat were complaining about some of them being too hard but I digress.)
They also are doing some nice changes to the party system that will encourage people to party up but still making solo possible for people that prefer that.
The housing from my experience (although instanced) was very seamless, If you're in a party with some friends and go to their house that is unlocked you walk right through the door- no loading screen or anything. You can even see them through the windows from outside. Most of the houses are very small tho ( some really nice large houses mixed in tho), but property has multiple purposes, you can turn them into carpentry places for workers or a blacksmith working shop, or into a place to work on ships.
I'm also a bit hyped about this game so I may sound more than a bit biased xP
The NA/EU version will be very different, CB2 is coming up and they do seem to be listening to player feedback (I know it's their job) but I can understand being pessimistic; It's better than being disappointed. I'm hoping it turns out well though.

Care to explain?

I played the first closed beta... and sure the graphics/customization is nice... I felt like it was lacking in game play even though there was supposedly a lot of stuff to do, which were mainly the "lifeskills" stuff. Combat system was kind of meh... or maybe it was the class I played. (Ranger and Witch) Grinding the quest/monsters for levels was kind of boring. I wasn't able to reach level 50 in the short time I played though.
I heard that there is no real pve endgame, and that the focus would be on pvp as well.
I don't really understand the hype for it.

Long story short, the idea behind what is called the first MMO out there was to have people, well role-play, interacting with the environment in a fairy complex way. In reality though, players have killed and destroyed almost everything within a few days, so many restrictions and alterations had to be applied.

The character editor looks like a Korean plastic surgery simulator. :(

I was planning to at least give it a try despite all the bad changes I read were done in the later stages. However Blade and Soul kind of raped this game so won't bother even giving it a chance.

Blade and Soul is getting an update + new class on the same day as Black Desert's release. What will people balance between~?

A lot of people have been waiting for black desert and only used BnS as a stop off, i'd guess a 50/50 split, although a lot of people are already dropped off the BnS hypetrain

There's nothing to be hyped about on BnS anymore. You either just enjoy it and want to play or you don't. So I agree it'll probably be 50/50, or probably even more on BDO.

Me and Snowie just recently jumped onto the bandwagon for this game as we have been looking for a new deep MMO to play that has a good degree of freedom.
The stuff shown so far almost sounds too good to be true but honestly can't wait to give it a go come launch.
Also I tried BnS but the client is prone to crashing and despite the age of the original game it seems to have trouble running smoothly (lots of stuttering to load objects when moving around. smooth when staying in a small area). It was disappointing given how long I waited for it =(
