I'm not sure if there's a topic nestled away somewhere but a certain series' reboot finally took place today. After much anticipation from fans all over the place...
Dunno if anyone would be up for discussing the series, but yeah...

I've enjoyed the series so much. I'm quite happy it's finally returned.
The first episode follows the same scenario like the original first episode, though a lot more camera angling and more animations. It's quite a drastic improvement over the original; that's what ten years of hiatus and technology advancements do.

(OT: I expected more hype in this topic, for some reason. Hm...baffling.)
I'll watch those later, but the reboot's first episode was definitely more explosive and action-packed. It didn't feel as comical as the old Episode One of SMBZ, but I suppose that's good. With it starting out intense, it makes it seem more like Mario and the gang wouldn't always be able to straight-up trounce characters that aren't [Hyper?] Metal sonic.
...not that Mario and the ones win so easily anyway, but yeah.
And the visual effects and movements seem more fluid than before, might I add. Or maybe that's just me.
Looking forward to the reboot of that big Yoshi's Island clash and,of course, getting to the point of the old season and witnessing what Alvin has in store for the story.

I guess here's not the place to look for die-hard fans. I've always admired sprite animations though I know I'll unlikely, maybe ever, have the opportunity to do them myself, even for a short skit.
As Alvin said himself, there's always room for improvement. The original Mario vs Bowser was severely limited in one camera angle, didn't involve the spectators, and was overall very short. But of course that's 2005, and Superstar Saga Bowser didn't have a lot of sprites to begin with (since he's pretty much a minor character). The reboot did a fantastic job expanding on the scenes.
*Ten years later add more room for improvement and grand expansions*
I do wonder if the same characters or new characters will be used in the later fights. Alvin did say he planned to not include Basilisx because he was just shoehorned in.

Aw. He was a pretty strong opponent for back then...slightly disappointed that he was merely tossed in.
I think we may indeed see new characters in SMBZ and after seeing the battles in the New episode 1 VS the old one, if we get another 3-way group battle, it may just blow that one outta the water.
Who do you think we could possibly see pop-up this time?

Alvin also said he's excluding the giant pipe maze, since it pretty much came off as a long, boring filler for a Chaos Emerald location. Minus the 8-bit sprites, it was rather extremely long and had its share of flaws, particularly with the Deus Ex Machina thrown in via Kolorado's watch distorting the Minus World's negative space.
As for characters, I absolutely don't want to see Starlow. She ruined Dream Team and did heavy damage on Paper Jam with her excessive chattering, and is one of the most annoying Nintendo characters to date.
My money is on "I HAVE FURY" Fawful. We also haven't seen any other Sonic universe characters yet. I only recall the Zetis being the most recent set of antagonists besides Eggman.
We do know what's coming for us, currently. On the opening of the Reboot, we can see the Koopalings, the Wario Bros, Axem Rangers, and the Koopa Bros. In addition to them are King Boo and K. R. Rool, and of course Mecha Sonic/Metallix and Mecha Mario.
Speaking the opening, the Star Spirits from Paper Mario 64 are also shown. Obviously, Metallix will get all the Chaos Emeralds, so we can deduce that once that happens Mario will get help from the Star Spirits.
