'Burn a Quran Day' Sparks Protests in Afghanistan, Petraeus Says It Can Endanger Troops - ABC News

A Florida pastor's plan to burn Qurans at his church on Sept. 11 ignited protests for a second day by hundreds of Afghans, who burned U.S. flags and shouted "Death to America," prompting the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan to say that the preacher could be increasing the threat to his troops.

The crowd in downtown Kabul reached nearly 500 today, with Afghan protesters chanting "Long live Islam" and "Long live the Quran," and burning an effigy of Terry Jones, senior pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, who is planning the event.

The protesters were well aware of the pastor's inflammatory comments, such as "Islam is an evil religion," because they have spread via the Internet. Jones has also authored a book, "Islam Is of the Devil."

The protesters' anger wasn't limited to Jones, however. Chants of "Death to America" echoed through the crowd and U.S. flags were set ablaze alongside the effigy of Jones.

"America cannot eliminate Muslims from the world," one Afghan man told ABC News.

The angry crowd pelted a passing U.S. military convoy with rocks.

Gen. David Petraeus said he is outraged by the pastor's decision to burn the Quran, which, he said, could "endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort here."

The stupid prick doesn't know jack s*** about how familiar Islam and Christianity is, or he would have realize that it would be told more in the line of Judaism book 1, Christianity book 2, Islam book 3. In general people tends to forget/ don't know that Islam origin comes from Christianity, not to mention that Christianity origins in it self is violent and convoluted, hell the current bible is only here cause that sect grew to be the one with the bigger penor. People like that pastor who spreads hate is nothing more than damn hypocrite, and should get sent to jail, cause that is a hate crime.

No this **** storm American is in (yeah me American) predates to the cold war. Osama wanted to put on his big boy pants, and piss off the Saudi royal Family cause he was gaining a following. America was down with the Saudi cause of the oil, to which we botched several assassination attempts on the man life, as he gain power over the years leading to 9-11. During which our standing started to fall with such as the whole incident with Somalia. Then when it reaches the 9-11 attack America had a new face for the enemy, which was Osama and Al-queda, which lead to the war on terroism. This lead to a same side effect that the Japanese face, a general hatred to one who is has similar features. To put it down we where hated for our foreign policy first,then this hatred for Muslim happen and now they got a more sympathetic reason for hating Americans.

This is what happens when I only get 2 hours of sleep.
