  I think they used to try harder to remove the mods, but the G11 patch didn't force me to update my mods o.0

  PvP, afterthought or not, is still part of Mabinogi. Anyone that signs up is entitled to their ill planned pvp experience without some other user bending/breaking/bypassing game mechanics to gain a further advantage. Should players choose to do so then it's completely appropriate to talk about it.

  Generally people don't care about mods that don't affect them in some way. Virtually no one will burn you at the stake because you modded your character to look like a Gundam or scantily clothed Succubus. What differentiates is whether the hack/mod has a substantial effect on other players like no-miss range did.

  A lot of them are. A lot more of them are incurable jerks but still nice outside of pvp. Very few of them are just generally unpleasant people. However, they've become a symbol for all the rule-bending that goes on...particularly the bending that people can actually feel.

  There are actually a few top players that don't use any mods and more still that don't use any mods other than a simple font switch. Things like 1 charge fireball and other game breakers of that nature will boost lvling yes, but it's entirely possible to hit obscene total lvls legitimately.

  They didn't *ever* try to remove mods.
  Mods stopped working before, due to two reasons:
  
  1. Outdated edits caused conflicts (ie: update your db folder).
  
  2. dll edits were specific to certain 'locations' or addesses of code, and updates would move these around. The dll edits have been revised to search out where to apply themselves automatically.

  Actually... They used to move bits and pieces around removing what was "gamebreaking" that was in the general public. Otherwise, 3 XML's in your db folder caused a crash or two, but delete those, they work fine. Now though, no one has released anything "gamebreaking" to the GP because we kicked all those losers out of our forums *shakes angry fist* :3

  This. It continues to amaze me just how few people in-game know how mods really work. To this day I overhear people discussing "problems" with their mods in public, "problems" that could be easily resolved with the most basic of troubleshooting.
  
  And for the record, I wasn't bashing servers; if you'll notice I put Mari above my own server. It's just a fact.

  Couldn't have summarized it better myself; although it technically "breaks the rules", Nexon doesn't give a damn about said rules anyway. Without the "police" on duty, Mabinogi is essentially ruled by anarchy, and in an anarchy, everyone does what they feel best for themselves. Groups of people here and there can try to remain "lawful", but these groups will never have any real impact on the general public because the general public is living by their own rules.
  
  People may be "justified" in complaining, but until the government steps in and enforces the law (which will never happen in our scenario), nothing will ever change. It is only going to get worse; either you can just quietly go about your own fantasy life (preferably WITHOUT PvP), or you can play the role of activist and vigilante trying to change that which cannot be changed. I recommend the route which affords the greatest peace of mind.

  And I have to say... IF the game allows it! Its not considered Cheating is the way I was taught!
  So mods in my case wouldn't be considered cheating since the game (nexon) allows it!
