Human archery: takes mucho mucho big dinero, effort, and time to even see decent returns. You also require residency on the west coast or else you miss and lag. Flat out sucks. Women will laugh at you.
Giant lance: Cost effective, ontop of being flat out effective. Does not require a Ph. D. in grindology. Pierce and thames smash means you found the secret to HUGE damage. Everyone will cheer for you and women will fight over you.
Make the right choice, OP.

I've already made a Giant named Jamarcelo, and he's going to mainly be a badass Alchemy Knight who fights using Battle Alchemy and a lance and shield, and he's gonna save, ALL, the damsels, and get ALL THE WOMEN.
I just love alchemy in this game. I love how in depth it is, how much utility it has, and how it and transmutation has uses inside and outside of combat. Though I could be wrong. I haven't played in awhile.
Nice Human character, btw, csraln. Almost makes me want to role a Human.

Human is the best race at nearly everything but anything is viable.

Now to figure out starting talent.

Let's not forget: human is CURRENTLY the best race. These things change rather quickly.

But Senpai...I don't care about being the best. D:
At least not to the point of wanting to optimize EVERYTHING. Plus, tomorrow, the Elves could be the best.

Archery is irrelevant.
Now that moon&sun sword is coming out, the only thing humans have over giants is final hit, and that's it. There is nothing inherent about humans that make them "the best at nearly everything." Giants will have the one-up on humans if we're going to talk from a purely bash viewpoint, since shields can provide a boost to attack via enchants or the cooking pot max damage reforge.

1. Archery is not irrelevant, as showcased by high-tier contents, including the new Rabbie dungeon. Get the right gears, rights stats, and right place and times, archery has great uses.
2. Let the OP decided for himself, it's his game, not yours or mine. If he wants to go fighter, let him, though I wouldn't recommend it.
3. While the Death Star tier sword will put Giants in the top basher, there are two problems with this. One, the relative damage difference isn't really high so it doesn't matter who the hell uses this. Two, the race that actually benefits the most from this is Elf, because with this, for once in Mabinogi history, Elves have an access to bashable weapon with potentially 9 piercing weapon. And as you know, the damage difference assuming 1.5k str, which is actually possible for Elves contrary to the assumptions that it isn't, isn't big enough to be game breaking.
I'd also like to remind you that it finally took about two months to make one of the damned piercing robe in KR server, filled with lots of hardcore players. As for the progress on the sword, quite a lot of people got banned, temporarily and permanently, for the dungeon exploit, along with materials they may have gotten. The farthest one's gotten is obtaining the sun stone, and is nowhere near making the sword happen, let alone next two months, so to assume using the sword as a realistic goal, especially on NA grounds, is overly optimistic as I see it. And this is coming from me, who have access to gears and stats vast majority of the players don't, as well as standards some view as unrealistic or even elitist.

Showcased in the new Rabbie dungeon? In KR? Where everyone is lagless and archery works as intended for everyone? Well, you were right about the "right place" qualifier. But seriously, high tier content? You mean the same content everyone spams firebolt? Well, if you say so.

ironwoman wrote on 2016-02-20 22:40
Yes, seriously. I don't know what kind of archers you saw, but I can say with confidence that my archery can perform at least as well as firebolt spam would, if not better. And then there are Elves who can perform a lot better. Keep in mind I live in midwest, and I still have a good enough connection to make archery work. When I say higher tier contents, I'm talking Heroic SS/S where you will need longer range attacks than firebolt, as well as the upcoming revamped dungeons.
But let's not stray off the point here. OP, do whatever the hell you want. You can be a grandmaster chef if that is your wish.

lol, k.
I don't remember saying I want to be a fighter, unless you're talking about melee combat in general. If anything, I find the Fighter skill tree a bit out of place in a game like Mabinogi. It's pretty cool, but it seems weird, considering the game's combat mechanics. Also, with all these melee weapons and cylinders and wands about, why use knuckle dusters?
But that's just how I see it, without having ever played it, so I'm probably wrong.
