Appreciation for the storyline

I recently got to have some refreshers because I decided to play around on my alts some, but I guess having the ability to replay the Sagas has me a bit spoiled.

Nowadays I tend to take screenshots during storyline quests so i can go back and look at it down the line.

G1-3 are best storyline. G9-12 are pretty great too.

I recommend doing each gen in order then if you like the story. I just did them as I could beat them and nothing made a lot of sense until saga and even then I still argued with people about how the story went .-. Also I agree with Iya but the things I wanna repeat are the boss battles, I love to try and see the G12 boss take me now.

Only chapter I take issue is with is C4 with the whole Shakepeare bit. It gets better when it returns back to tying things together in bits of G15 and all of G16. Saga is also pretty great despite people's hate of it. C6 of course is excellent and really gets back to it's roots. C1 of course is the closest to Mabinogi's original lore and feel. G9 - G12 also is pretty good.

I also would recommend doing them in order, just ignore any of the mainstream quests for like C3/C4/C6 until you you've completed the previous one. Also if you like story I would recommend you do G7 which most people tend to skip due to lack of rewards.

Am I the only one who was getting kick out of the G8 last battle??
    (vol cranked up to max)

As is now, that is the only boss that retains old strength, so why not check him out?
(besides, if you clear it, G10 onwards would be SOOO much easier)

I think my favorite gen would have to be G9. I like errand quests kept to a minimum if they don't involve something actually important happening. I'm lookin' at you, G1-2.

I'd say this. G4-8, G3-17, and G19 are so-so. G18/Saga is pretty much the worst and is one of the most disliked, if not the most, part of the storyline.

G2 *might* be missing out some important cutscenes since a revamp shortened the length and ended up stripping said cutscenes.

Ehh, saga was pretty OK IMO. More fun than G13/14 and not as Canon breaking as G15/16.

There are some plot holes still, but that's because there have been multiple directors to the game that wanted to change things each time. Up until g12 story is great (you skip from g3 to g7 BTW. 4, 5, and 6 was just Iria continent, elf, and giant's releases) (some people might tell you to skip g7, but if you're enjoying the storyline I suggest you don't skip it 'cuz it's adorable), then the Shakespeare quests are ok, then imo Saga was just bad. G19 was fine, it was short story-wise but it wasn't bad and it brought a new raid which was awesome. I haven't done more than the first mission of g20 but it looks amazing and everyone is saying it's amazing so it's looking like the story is great again! C:

Also if you haven't played Vindictus before I suggest picking that up as well. It's gameplay is extremely different from Mabi, but it's set in the same "universe" except a billion million years before Mabi existed (it was supposed to be a prequel but later content released in Vindi changed that). But Vindi's story line is super well written if you take the time to talk to all the NPCs. :D

I'd say, so far out of all the generations we've had, G20 has the strongest story and provided the most feelings I've felt in any mainstream quest to date. It's also the only mainstream that has had this many options to pick from. Only other ones that rival this is C4, in particular G16 and the ending you got there.

I think the current direction is for sure heading in the right direction story wise and hopefully a new director doesn't come along and destroy that.

Couldn't agree more. And this is coming from someone who can't seem to be compelled to sit down and go through a Visual novel these days....[s]the vibe ain't there no more...[/s]

Hopefullywe stay on the current path Mabi is taking. I really liked actually making choices in the story that have actual effects on how things go (and how characters act).
Saga was mostly just defaming the player, with literally every NPC whether friend or foe being gigantic assholes. The first half of Saga 1 could all have been avoided if Akule wasn't being a dick. Not to mention, Aodhan not recognizing us while everyone else does (in NA at least), plot holes and half the cast mysteriously disappearing (where's that rematch with Languhiris?).
