I never planted anything and I probably won't do a lot in that direction in the future. The only plants I had for myself were herbs. I do plan to find a wasabi seed/bud and plant that one though. There's one that does pretty well in the Central European climate but I forgot the exact species.

I had a decent sized garden once. It had a big selection of plants: summer squash, herbs, jalapenos, sweet potatoes (we later learned that it was the inedible type), tomatoes, assorted melons, artichoke, and bell peppers. We poured hours of our precious thyme into it and only a leaf or two of the tomatoes were ripped by pigeons. It was a heat wave followed by monsoon season that killed our garden. We had plenty of tomatoes to harvest before disaster, though, and even a few black jalapenos(green = mild, red = hot, black = flamethrower). BTW dill is a zombie herb. If it dies, it comes back for another shot. Good for bad weather conditions.

Frogs in the Flowers sounds like a good book name. You could be an author of a famous planters guide and get rich quick! Such are the idle fancies of a great master of wordplay.

With the amount of frogs you get in your plants, you should start a frog farm!
Also, I have some nopales in the yard. They can grow pretty much anywhere here in California even without being watered. Too bad my little sister likes playing a lot around them and ends up touching them, which results in her bawling her eyes out. I ended up getting rid of the biggest one since it would open up more space for her to play in. I might end up getting rid of the other two as well since it's been a year and neither is at a stage where you can harvest from them. :/
