Here is something that any newcomer needs when starting a game: reasons. I have never played Mabinogi or Vindictus, and I would like to tell my friends about it, but I need a reason to play and refer the games. Post any good reasons that you think I should play Mabinogi. Edit: Also, any tips for beginners would be much appreciated.

You shouldn't.
A lot of people here are bitter ex-players who hate the company because they appear to be doing everything in their power to ruin the game while stealing every last dime from the people still willing to play it. So you're more likely to get horror stories about why you shouldn't play it than convincing reasons why you should.

First and foremost: don't listen to veteran players. Like stated above, salt is the only thing left in most of them.
What I usually give as my number one reason to play mabinogi is that there's just no other game like this. At all. The amount of freedom, skills and fashion is staggering. Few games embrace the concept of sandbox so well.
As for Vindictus, while I had to quit due to underpowered PC, I really enjoyed two things there. The first one is combat - it both feels and looks incredibly smooth. The other thing is not often a strong point of MMOs, namely the story. In vindictus it makes sense, you can see how one thing leads to another, nothing feels like pulled out of nowhere but there are some surprising plot twists. I still tear up when listening to Tieve's Theme...
And speaking of music, both games have exceptional soundtracks.

About Konrads post, I looked at some of the screenshots on google and those looked good. My worry is about lag that might happen. Is there any, and if so, does it affect your helpfulness and make you a roadblock for your team?

I've found that sometimes there's some lag that's so bad your skills won't even load....but it tends to disappear after sometime. [s]Unfortunately, that interval can be just enough time for you or some party members to get wiped out.[/s]
But as long as you don't have too much stuff going on in the background [check Task Manager for that] you should generally be ok.

I wrote some lengthy paragraph about latency, but then I realised that OP is probably asking about framerate in Vindictus. But honestly I don't feel like I could answer that question properly. I have stopped playing years ago (around the time when season 2 came out in EU) and I just don't know what people run these days and how resource-heavy are these popular areas. The only advice I can give now is - check it out anyway; there's a lot of different video settings and it doesn't cost anything.
