Hello !
So, could some people explain to me Mabinogi's combat system ?
I don't understand what quests and dungeons I'm supposed to do. I also don't understand how to be good at combat. For example, in the shadow missions, I don't really understand why the shadow archers one-shoot me. How can I be more strong ? Is there quests in particular that I must do ?
Also, I don't know what kind of weapon I should upgrade and how. The stats seems really difficult to understand. My character is an elf and, since I only up Combat mastery, I'm a great warrior. I don't have any other talent that is better than bronze.
I would love to show you my character's stats, but I can't. There is a message displaying "Post denied. New posts are limited by number of URLs it may contain and checked if it doesn't contain forbidden words."
Hope someone can help me ! ♥
If I had a character on Alexina, I'd give you a hand. Let's see what we can do here.
For future reference, you'll want to use the wiki for overall help in general. You can look up nearly every weapon here and every skill in the game, just use it as a guideline

Mabi's combat system used to be around a RPS style (Rock paper scissors) Smash beats defense, Defense beats normal attacks, Counter beats normal attacks and smash, etc. That's somewhat true now but also not because of the G16 revamp to combat along with other skillsets ignoring it. Long story short, you need to make use of your skills to fight. You're an Elf warrior I take it?
If the enemy has defense loaded (Signified by them walking, UNLESS they have a shield on, then they might still run), use smash on them. If they're standing in place with a skill loaded, it could be counterattack. Use windmill in that case or wait it out. If they're running at you with smash loaded? Use windmill, counter or just normal attack them out of it.
The archers one shot you because your hp isn't that high and you probably don't have much defense/protection. Get that higher and they won't one shot you as often unless it's a critical hit.
As far as stats goes: STR gives your weapons damage (This includes all swords, axes, hammers, guns, shurikens, control bars) as well as giving you defense
Int gives you magic attack, magic protection, magic balance
Dex gives your bows damage (Along with control bars) and also gives you armor pierce and then balance (Balance being the range of your damage. For example, if you have an attack range of 50-100 and you have 80% balance, most of your attacks will be towards doing closer to the 100 damage than 50).
Will gives you crit, higher chances to go into deadly and fighter damage. Also gives you more wound rate as well.
Finally, Luck gives you crit as well as the chance to get lucky gatherings.
