Hi there,
I'm a new player currently leveling many different talents to get the free AP. While DW seems to be the best choice in terms of damage/ease of access, I'm afraid I won't have the time and energy to get really good gears. So it made me thinking...
1) How well can I do (mainly DW) with low-to-mid level weapons? Store-bought items without good reforges, that is. Meaning, what level of content/dungeons will make me stop and whisper to myself "no, this is simply not possible with my cheap swords and storyline light armor"?
2) My friend is playing a mage, and if we have any gold we will likely prioritize mage equipment. Is it viable for me to go mainly support if we play together most of the time?
3) How equipment-dependent is an average support build? Do people even play support/expect to dungeon with healers/supporters?
4) Are there any talents/builds/playstyles that do just fine without endgame goodies?
5) If good equipment is a must, are there any talents to avoid? (If I'm not mistaken, archers rely heavily on reforges, so it's not something I'm going to try.)
Thanks;)

1. Depends on what enchants you put on them. If you're not thinking of putting good enchants on either, Alban hard mode S is the point of content you should be avoiding.
2. Possible, yes, but efficient? No. You'd be better off buying nimbuses. You can be the "main" BFO or Vivace user with right enchants or reforges, but that's about as far as "supporting" will go, you're gonna need to carry your own weight too.
3. PE 20 effect gloomy, music buff enchants, and there, you got your "support" build. Healing is obsolete, and many people end up using their own music buff unless someone had maxed or near maxed buff.
4. Depends on your definition of "fine". If your goal isn't to run end game contents, then aby thing works given you habe stats. If your goal is that, then no, you will need end game gear for any skillset.
5. In the end, all classes are most effective with most reforges. In archery's case, it's just that the skillset just doesn't have much effectiveness without both the gear and stats, while many other skillset don't necessarily need both to be fine. Archery's problem is that its early game and mid game is non existent.
As for avoiding any skillet to invest, it's fighter. It has terrible stat to damage ratio, resulting in low DPS. Only time it'd show significant DPS is if you can use final hit with knuckles that have dual elemental refoege of 10+
