I have been a master full alchemist for over a year or two now and have thoroughly enjoyed it but lately it seems that the damage and utility of alchemy have just fallen off. It seems easier to just have ninjas and mages instead of an alchemist in terms of combat and I am debating switching off. So I would like to ask if alchemy has actually fallen off or I`m just crazy.

Alchemy has been basically irrelevant for like at least 4 years...
It doesn't scale well damage wise because you need to set up your gear specifically for alchemy including enchants, and no one likes doing that. Even when you do invest into gears, you could be doing more damage with other skillsets except fighter because fighter in 2k17 = LUL
Only things alchemy is good for are rain casting (but debatable in phantasm), hydra (again, many contents don't even really need it), and maybe shock's aoe stun and elemental wave frozen blast.
Basically, it's only for the utility.

What Iron said, my first talent in this game was alchemy and i can tell you that a huge amount of he damage comes off the items you have. Alchemy gives great utility like grabbing aggro with shock, stopping it with rain cast, destroying any enemy with hydra, regenerating life with life drain or freezing a bunch of enemies with elemental freeze blast and great health mana and stamina stats. But damage wise it only takes you so far, my set gives a decent amount of water and fire alchemy boost but my flame burst only does an average of 2k-6k per burst with a crit and that only takes you so far considering not all targets will stay during the burst. I'm actually switching over myself, i'm working on magic first(because i like healing and int increases it) then moving on to increasing str(already finished close combat). So considering he meta going to close combat or magic doesn't hurt and if you want puppeteer gunner or ninja afterwards then the stats from the other talents will help a lot.
