Main PC cannot recognise/boot hard drive

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. the cat is on this old PC now.

The main problem started when the cat was using the main PC
just searching on the internet
it then slowed down a lot
not because the internet was having problems, but the computer was,
pretty much freezing to the point where you learn that Vista gives a message that "Microsoft windows" is not operating and crap.

When the cat restarted, it couldnt boot from the HD again.
Went to setup, the hard drive wasn't recognised on the boot device list.

is this a physical problem or a software problem?

see if it recongizes another hard drive, if it does
then your hard drive is broken

Take the drive out and test it in an external usb enclosure, something everyone should have because it's so epic and useful.

Re-check your SATA/IDE and power cables for your hard drive? Possibly, one of those may have come loose.

this was the actual problem
had to wait for master to do it for the cat
*holds up paws*
anyways, the cat will make another thread if it was something else different.
