Question on Exploration Imps and Rebirthing

Also, are they useful anyway? I guess since they are allowed on the boat with regular characters they could be a valuable ally. I'm really considering on getting one of these.

It has magic shields. That makes it easier to solo raft without worrying about being too far (aim slower or out of range) or too close (hit and stunned = no kills).

Especially for Ice Spear. One charge of high rank Ice Spear can easily clear an entire wave, the only problem is being in the right spot to shoot it off.

Only the imps are allowed. They can also go on wyvern hunts.

This is the trouble, I have no idea if they give +stat bonuses for having those skills.

So anyone with Thunder Spaniel pet?
