My idea could possibly fit here, or it could fit in existing market threads, but I somewhat feel a new subforum might work best. This idea is pretty rough, but perhaps with some input, it can be polished into an ideal form.
Almost everyone, at some point or another, works on lifeskills (and for this discussion, even though they're not technically lifeskills, I'll be including skills like enchant, mana crystallization, heck most alchemy skills that involve making crystals, synthesis, fragmentation, and metal conversion especially). These skills all share in common the need to gather huge numbers of materials, and spend countless hours crafting things. A lot of people do this enormous task solo, some even going so far as to not even purchase any materials.
On the other hand, I've seen people work together to share the burden. Either through employment (buying materials or even hiring dedicated gatherers) or through guild cooperation, or favors and honor system.
Guilds rise and fall and disband, business partners go their separate ways, and so on. I'd like to try to organize something a little bigger and more permanent than a guild.
Joining this organization should require at minimum the desire to work on at least one lifeskill, and a willingness to help out others in kind. No one should expect to get anything for free; and should expect to do a lot of helping others before getting any help in return. The main point of this organization would be to get people in contact with each other, and produce a formal way for people to advertise what they are working on, and what sort of help they need, and what kind of help they are willing and able to provide.
Obviously this is server specific, much like the market threads are. But I'd like, as said before, for this to be much larger than the efforts of just a guild, but something for the entire server.

There would be no trust o.o People would be ripping each other off like mad.

^pessimist.
This could work, but the way u phrased it sounds like the gatherer works for free then can employ others.
As long as the gatherer gets paid and employer pays the gatherer, i dont see any problem with this.
We should make it like a bounty hunting board.

It could also work similarly to some thinks people have proposed like blacksmithing certain ranked things for free if materials are provided. One of my guildies has proposed exchanging iron ingots (and the like) for ores. Another could be a potion exchange for herbs, much like solestra is working on. It could work but trust is a big issue.

I don't think this will work out very well on a large-scale for the start. You should get a small team and work things out.

I love the idea actually, but seeing as how our Recruit board is sorta half-dead, I don't think it would work to the best of its ability here.
Of course, you'd offer prices and whatnot, but people would have to dedicate themselves to actually make this service work.

Well, this seems nice, but it'd require some dedication and people. Plus some organization/management.
If you can get those, though, this could be great. Or it might turn out bad, but we won't know until it happens.

...3 weeks ago wasn't too long. It was still on the first page~
Butyeah. It could work. :D Make a subforum for it and have everyone make a thread with the title being the lifeskills they're working on. They could then list the materials they have to trade, and what they're tradeing them for. o-o Like:
Tradeing 1 Silver Ingot:15 iron ores, 10 Gold ores, or 15 mana herbs
Okay, thats off. But you get the idea. And you'd need to meet up ingame to trade stuff. Mail trades at your own risk? xD

Tried this a long time go on my server, like last year. It didn't quite work, people in Mabinogi are barely committed, so this really would only work on a guild size, and only within your guild.

Overall on a small scale it works, I have done the herb/potion exchanges with people who have a lower potion making rank, as well as the ingots/ores. A lot of weaver's need help gathering leathers to make straps for, this idea would work really well for those people. Overall it would work well as long as someone is to keep a track list of scammers and such. Also it would work best if the person making the exchange already has some of the items they are making. Like instead of a person taking the 10 mana herbs and making as many potions as they can with them, it would be best if they on the spot trade the 10 mana herbs for 10 potions. The exchange allows for no scamming then, plus it's not the person who got the herbs' fault that you failed the potion making, consider it like exchange for the experience.

I've actually thought about doing something similar within the guild, but first, I need to stop being poor so I can help get this started.
