So what are the pro's and cons of light, heavy and plate armor?
What's the recommended set for Lann-type character?

Pros: More defense
Cons: More weight
More weight = takes longer to stand up and if it goes over yellow or blue, the difference is much higher.
Use heavy armor with Lann when possible (i.e it doesn't go over yellow bar). You'll have to rank Heavy Armor mastery at some point with Lann too. Just not a priority afaik.
But don't take my Lann advice as fact, as I only know a few things about him. ^ That's just what I think it's right to do with him. But I do see high level Lanns (in heroes) using heavy armor only.
Also, plate is Fiona only.

Alright, thanks alot.
Was hesitated because I taught that the mroe weight you put on, the slower your attacks.
Anyways, heavy Armour is much more cool.

Different types of clothing/armor will grant you different levels of Defense. Also, specific equipments may have stats and set bonuses that are more desired. For example, compare Crimson Rage Set (Light Armor) vs. Northern Pike Set (Heavy Armor):
Crimson Rage Tunic:
DEF +161, STR +24, AGI +15, WIL +8, HP +27
Crimson Rage Set bonus:
DEF +785, STR +49, AGI +53, WIL +34, HP +160
Northern Pike Vambrace:
DEF +158, STR +14, AGI +15
Northern Pike Set:
DEF +925, STR +35, AGI +134
The Heavy Armor set grants more Defense, but at the same time, different stats than the Light Armor one.
On another note, different levels of clothing/armor have different levels of weight (stones). More weight is fine, as long as your total equipment weight doesn't exceed the amount you can carry currently.
If it does, you'll see a reduction in speed and stance recovery in combat. But like Baku says, that can be alleviated with ranking the appropriate proficiencies/masteries.
