I grab when I'm doing LLLLR and accidentally press both keys at the same time, or I feel like slamming gnolls against the ground. It looks cool.

Grabs take too long. Watch how your party clears a room by the time you're done throwing your second enemy.
They also take a lot of stamina, for the same price I can kill twice the amount of mobs in one fourth the amount of time.
They may feel overpowered in the beginning, but throw damage doesn't grow as your character grows. Eventually, you will outgrow it. And faster than you might think.

If you're targeting one opponent who is your size, then sure, why not grab?
But its true, Smashes tend to be better overall.
You can still get a lot of good effects out of smash if you place it well. You slam them for huge overkill taking a large aoe of damage at the same time.
