So the problem is that with this deterioration crap (and the fact that I'm a cheapskate) I'm not sure about what armor I should use.
I'm a Lann as it says in my profile, and so it's appreciated for you not to suggest Northern Pike or whatever, because I can't wear the full set without going over the weight limit (even if I were to cap heavy armor mastery, which I'm not planning on doing).
Now I was going to get this Savage Leather set (I think that's what it's called) but now that I hear about deterioration I don't think this is the best option.
So it would be very much appreciated if I could get some help finding a balance here. It just needs to be something I can replace somewhat easily and that guards me pretty well.
Since I'm a Lann, defense is not a huge concern anyway, but still, I want to figure this out.
Thanks in advance.

Crimson Rage is more than good enough if you don't get hit much. I like using pieces of Wind Crust for aesthetics though =s

If you're really cheap, just go buy Premium Rookie set and be done with it. Only break out the good equipment for suitable battles.
If you're not *that* cheap, Crimson Rage set is pretty easy to obtain repeatedly, while giving good stat boost for its ease of obtaining.

How does deterioration work, out of curiosity?

^Basically... The higher the number, the more often it will break and the more expensive it will be to repair. Yeah, you pretty much have to switch armors every so often, which is a shame for cheapskates like me.

DO NOT throw away or sell your equips with deterioration. They are really nice to have when doing those "break your armor 300 times" title

You'll get those eventually, you don't need to try so hard to get it.
BTW, there's one for 1000 armor breaks =x

Might want to use Premium Rookie set, since you can get those for free from the General Store, and their repair fee is 0 gold.
Saves a lot of money for those titles.
