  Rikuo Nura, is part human and a quarter Youkai (demon), lives in a house full of spirits along with his grandfather. Trying to escape his fate of acting like a demon, he does good deeds in order to avoid becoming one. Despite his grandfather's wish to succeed him as master of the Nurari youkai clan. He eventually comes to terms with his demon blood and decides to once again take up the position of Young head of the Nura house. Multiple factions aim to stop him or overtake his position.   I think a thread was made about Nurarihyon, just can't find it. But yeah, another one of those stories about an unmotivated kid positioned to become something more important to the world, in Rikuo's case the world of the Youkai.
  
  An anime was announced in the Weekly Shounen, if I'm not mistaken.

  This manga is epic beyond all words. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to read any action/shounen. Romance/shoujo lovers should read it too. So should people who dislike manga. >=|

  Well, most of the chapters have translation notes at the end that explains why so-and-so's named this because they're that type of monster. Most of the youkai featured in this series have only loose ties to their traditional counterpart (pretty much like every other manga series featuring youkai I've read...) so it's not like you really gain anything if you do know about them beforehand.
  
  But obviously I have a slightly biased view.
