Take your time. The guild system hasn't even been released yet, so you have plenty of time to choose.

Officially, no. You can find a group of people that want to start a guild when the system comes out, and you'll be put on the list to join the guild, and the bigger ones have guild forums and Vent servers so they have ways of communicating while playing, but you officially won't be in a guild until the system comes out. So if you don't have Vent, then you really can take your time since outside of said forums, you will probably have problems communicating, which is probably one of the reasons you want to be part of a guild.
