Reasons why I am seriously considering to rank up thunder:
Reason 1: Courcle exploration by now is really boring. I don't want to go through my pet inventories and store relics just to spam on the next day, this is boring and too much time is consumed for little gain.
Reason 2: I rely very much on my Thunder mage friend whenever we go rafting together, although he doesn't really mind it. I do go on solo AR rafting but it takes me a lot of runs to get to exploration 18 or so due to low star scores.
Reason 3: I plan to rank up Blacksmithing and I think now is a good time to do it, at least to R9. Otherwise, I might never have the chance to get to it. I just lack the materials that rafting can provide. AR is not efficient enough to get enough stars for this.
Reason 4: I have potion making RA so I don't have much trouble with MP pots.
Reason 5: I just want to have fun and Thunder seems to be a really fun skill to have.
I plan to get R6 thunder, which should be possible within 2 RBs.
Questions
1. Question on the 108 chaincast+1 Lightning wand and the 121 chaincast+2 Lightning wand. At R6, which one allows to hit 4 hobgoblins at one time? Or how do they work?
2. Is 151 Crystal Lightning wand the end-game rafting thunder wand? Seeing how the Mana Consumption is -40%, and how Magic Damage is -35%, is the damage still enough for the Hobgoblins in rafting?
3. I have only about 100 MP (+/- 25 depending on levels) I am extremely unwilling to spend AP on other magic skills, and I need some help with an equipment set, since everything on my magic skill list is rank F or novice (Magic Mastery is novice) except for Enchant R2, Fireball R9 (no intention to rank down), Healing E and Meditation E.
I have Mana Summoner clothing (either +3 or +4, need to recheck on that when game goes online tomorrow). My current Lightning wand is 9 dura, not upgraded and enchanted with Hope (Rank B, under level 30 +10 mp, after I burnt something w/o realising that the enchant is wand-only so I just decided to use it on my wand). I have 2 Sweet Pea gloves, and I can look into getting more for accessories.
I have prophetic mage cap, but I'm unsure if I will use it or the Broad-Brimmed Feather Cap for mana reduction.
I need some suggestions on what I can do for the rest of the set. Considering Fountain as suffix as last resort.
I'm also going to do a price check on RB suffix Meat enchant for cooking table/cooking pot, or see if I can attempt cooking dungeon for it.
Accessories: Prefix ??? / Suffix Sweet Pea
Hat: Prefix ??? (R8 Curing/RC Smart?) / Suffix ???
Clothing: Prefix ??? / Suffix Mana Summoner
Gloves: Prefix ??? / Suffix Mana Summoner
Shoes: Prefix ??? / Suffix ???
Shield: Prefix ??? (RA Solid?) / Suffix ??? (RB Meat?)
Weapon: Prefix ??? (RB Simple?) / Suffix ??? (RB Hope?)

1) Neither. Thunder at r1 will hit 4 targets on first charge. You are just paying extra mana from those chaincasting. The number of targets goes up on certain ranks, just like how WM radius increases at r5 and then again at r1.
2) Yea, it is more than enough to kill the Hobogloblins in one charge. If for some reason you don't feed confident, charge the second charge. This assumes r1. Not sure about the other ranks since its been awhile, especially r6 Thunder.
3) Well, ranking Thunder will give you a lot of Mana. Putting Thunder title on will give you another +40 mana as well if you get that far. Isn't Wisp enchant a decent +mana enchant? I went with Smart/Wisp on Hat, and then Wisp on whatever possible for 500 mana or so, which is probably overkill.
I forgot how much int was it, but it is a good idea to get that 100% magic balance.

This is weird, because I know someone who claims to have R6 Thunder and he hits 4 at first charge if I'm not mistaken.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with his wand. I'll need to ask him on kind of wand he's using if nobody knows.
Otherwise, what is a good wand for R6 thunder? I'm probably going to be stuck there for a while.
Also, about wisp, I need lightning bolt D to activate that. 10 AP to consider about.

1). Chaincasting by wand only affects bolt spells. So CC+1/2 Lightning Wand means 1-2 extra charge of Lightning Bolt per cast. You'll still charge one charge of Thunder per cast no matter what.
2). I'm pretty sure at r6, you can have confidence in one-shotting Hobgoblin Exorcists and Bowman, even with +casting speed/-magic dmg upgrades. Not sure about the Warriors.
3). Since your Lightning Bolt is below rD, you won't be able to take advantage of Will o' Wisp enchant. I think you can enchant Mana suffix on your shoes for +20 MP (it's an r8 enchant though). Also, since you're not willing to rank up other magic skills, look for Mana Reduction set/enchants, have a more than good amount of MP potions ready, and try to find some way to get as much Int (for Magical Balance) as you can without wasting AP.

Thanks, I totally forgot about that.
I'll look into the 151 Crystal Lightning wand and forget about chaincast.
And also look at how I can get 290 int or work out on balance too.
R7 footwear Mana enchant is not useable for my case, icebolt has to be rank 8 or above.
I'd rather spend 10AP for lightning bolt and +4 int, but I'll need to see how to get 10 AP within the plan.

If your Critical Hit rank is r1, and you can get 30% Critical rate while wielding the required wands, then Magical Balance will become slightly less of an issue.

It's R1. I'll take note of that once I've assembled all the equipment before enchanting.

Until Rank 5, Thunder cannot kill the Hobgoblin Warriors in one charge with one hit (without crit), making them somewhat problematic, and the -35% damage just makes this even worse. I would actually recommend a wand upgraded for speed casting at first. The 12% speed bonus saves nearly a half second at earlier ranks, and comes with -16% mana reduction. The damage reduction is also negligible.
151 upgrade path is good when thunder becomes stronger, though.
