I prefer texting, using the phone can be quite annoying when you have nothing you wanna say.

Aside from sending a one sided message, where it's faster to convey what you're trying to say instead of waiting for the person's voicemail to leave a message, or talking to someone that's on their computer using an IM program, I see no real reason for texting. You're on phones, which are devices used to communicate vocally over long distances. Why do you have to fall back into telegrams to communicate? Talking on the phone is faster, and conveys more than texting can ever dream of.
And a good number of times, people text to people within a talking distance away, and yet they still text. Why? No, seriously, why? Sure, you might be able to get away with it during class or something, but for the most part, texting seems pretty useless to me.

I don't like talking on the phone, so I usually just text people.

I'm phone-shy so I only answer if it's someone I'm close to and I got a bit of warning. v///v;

I agree completely. Topics tend to dry up fast when your on the phone and then it gets aaaaakkkkward.
And saying a phone is just for calling people is wrong. Were obviously in a new generation where texting is widely accepted and believe me you can convey emotions through texting. Just depends on how well you can build it up using words and how well you know the person your texting.

Texting because I sound like Justin Bieber over the phone...not kidding. .-.
It's cheaper too.

That only happens when you're talking to strangers or mere acquaintances.
Doesn't happen between my friends and I.
But then again, texting allows one person to talk with another for hours, even with pauses in between. Pauses in a real phone conversation can get annoying.
Also, texting is good for multitasking, IMO. It's hard for me to talk on the phone and use the computer at the same time. I kinda go nuts.

I like texting, I hate being caught off gaurd, because usually my responses are mis interpreted.
So I like that i can think about my response, without there being some awkward silence.
Unless it's someone who i enjoy talking to. But, I generally hate phone conversations, and only use them for work/school purposes.
