Keep 2H, or make Gladius Ego?

After breaking my wand and deciding to make a melee ego, I ended up with a Blue 2H Sword (because Dragon Blades are weaker, harder to repair, and Blue ones don't look half as nice as 2H). Now that we have Blue Gladii around, I'm contemplating breaking my 2H in favor of the Gladius.

Ego 2H - [ 71-157, 10 Critical ]
Demi Lich Crocodile Claymore - [ ? - 157, 27 Critical ] -140HP

Ego 2H is only better in terms of Min Dmg. I use it mostly when I don't want to use HW or pay 10k repair fees.
Claymore is better because I can crit in SCC with it. The -140HP is also good for LowHP which I do pretty often.
I've had my Ego for like 4 months (around when Blue 2H first came out) and it still has 22/55 dur, so obviously it doesn't get used much.

However, comparing Gladius ego damage to what I have...

Goddess Caliburn Broadsword - [ ? - 98, 43 Critical ]
Goddess Horn Broadsword - [ ? - 105, 34 Critical ]
A Gladius ego would only need 35 Str, 30 Luck to match these Broadswords (and not cost 11k to repair).

The only thing I'm worried about is that I did a rough test of Smash damage with these weapons, and dual wielding came out much lower. I didn't test Windmill, but since Smash is my primary skill for pretty much everything (Doppleganger, Field Bosses, Hardmode Dungeons), it may be preferable to keep the 2H (better enchants will also give 2H an even bigger lead).

The other thing is that it seems like Male sword is easier to find Str-food for, so I'd probably switch to that. I'd also want to waste even more money I don't have on a new Blue 2H, just to have one (fashionogi!)

I personally, think that a Blue weapon, is winsauce.

Anyway, I'd probably go with the 2h, you get the 100% (Or so) + Damage from Smash with 2h's
And it looks badass seeing a blue ego claymore.

Also, dual-wielding with a specific lvl ego will produce higher Smash dmg than dual-wielding without one, right? Seems like you're using your Claymore much more than your 2h for your two-handed needs. Why not keep the Claymore for your Smashes and get a blue Gladius for WM dmg? Plus, it takes up less space and can be used with a shield if you so desire.

I personally killed my Ego 2handed for a Crossbow Ego mainly due to I use 222 broads for my wm and smash needs. Since I use WM more then smash having my ego was just waste of spacc,time and effort with its use becoming rarer and rarer. So I switched to a White Crossbow, ego'd it up and now its weaksauce and takes ages to get hungry...

As for your cause however you smash alot which kinda makes your Ego more handy. You have to think variables as in your other weapon that use, when do I use my ego, what do I use my ego for, what will I use my new ego for.

As for male or female, female have the best str growth due to access to Sandals but Males have the best average growth or something like that. Its either Emo guy or the Loli...>.<

If do decide to get the blue ego gladius, it will overpower 2handed ego's in wm's and damage out put (not smash) when used with a 222 broadsword. Even more haxzors when you have pro enchants on the broadsword like Goddess Spike or Goddes Caliburn...

Well atm your 2h ego is weaker than your claymore, but that claymore has pretty much been maxed. The 2h ego on the other hand can go as far as 238 max damage so with some investment it can be stronger yet.

Now that you mention it, Ego Glad + (105) Broad would only be 22 damage over a 2H Ego. That's only like 140 damage on Windmill crits.
But my concern is that the 2H ego will only get 18 Critical, which is really low for HM Smash. If the 2H can't crit smash, then the Gladius would still be better. My current set up doesn't require any Critical enchants at all, so I'd be sacrificing even more damage if I try to compensate.

Oh yea, another reason I don't feed my ego much is because it needs to stay Happy in order to give daily blessings. AFAIK, this is only for female sword - another reason switching to male sword would be better.

jousting claymore is 167 max damage and higher crit than your current claymore (i believe) yeah it can't be fixed but if you're just using it to smash doppel and shadow ghosts, keeping it blessed will make it last a while. getting the pointd for a replacement claymore isn't hard either, i've accumulated enough points for 7 of them, lawl.

forget about goddess caliburn broad, sword of elsinore + gladius ego= made of win. i'm almost tempted to destroy my dustin ego in favor of a bastard or gladius ego because of it. and if yanlingdao ever comes out, i KNOW i'll destroy my dustin ego lol.

iirc, for daily effect, it only needs to be fine (thats the case for me at least o-o;)

also, if you dont actively feed you ego, i don't see the point of changing it, as it'll stays weak anyway :x

AFAIK, daily blessings for egos are at the lowest Fine status, except for Female Sword, which has to be the highest Fine status, or Happy. I've never had it give any blessing when it wasn't super content.

As for food, Male Sword just seems better to me. Among other things, Gladii and Combat Wands drop like crazy in SCC. Round Shields and Linen Cuirass drops from dungeons and Field Bosses. I'd be much more inclined to feed my ego if I didn't have to afk in town, spend money, and click X million times.

Prof doesn't matter for egos...

As for shields, I should mention that I only care about damage.
Honestly, if I wanted to play defensively I'd just spam Advance Magic from a distance and not get hit at all. Or Blaze and deal 3-5x as much damage.

I did some math on ego damage (in response to Beepuke) and it seems like a Gladius Ego isn't a definite winner for Windmill either.

At low Str (~30) a 2H only has about 30 extra Smash damage, but 140 less Windmill damage (numbers vary based on char).
At max stats (50) a 2H will have 290 extra Smash damage, and only 50 less Windmill damage. Also remember that it stuns longer, doesn't require a 100+ damage offhand weapon, and has more durability.

As said, the only drawback is the low crit. But now seeing how small the damage gap is at endgame, I decided that it won't be much of a sacrifice to slap on a Stiff hat.

Mala Swords are easier to feed for Str than female if you can effectively raft. At Str 27 a Tipping suite gives 2k+ exp and isn't to hard to get if you know how. And it's basically for free since you're getting mana herbs to replace you pots and Ingots can more than pay for repairs and the raft. Also the Bone marine boots give 900 exp if you like to fish.

I think he meant you could proof another Gladii at the same time as using your ego. But that would defeat the point, since one handed Ego's need a strong counterpart to compete with Two-handers.
