Flashy dyes are a way to show how bad a person is with color harmony. Sometimes, anyway. There's a few decent schemes, but flashies on any clothes will never go beyond "decent" attribute to me.
On a related note, having eyes that are sensitive enough to color, apparently gives you mental pain and headaches with Mabinogi's flashy.

It will eventually lead to playing Fashionogi. Eventually, you'll have the gold just sitting in your bank, doing nothing, and there's nothing better to blow money on than clothing. While devCAT is constantly adding new skills for you to dump AP in, but eventually you will be maxing every skill. If you look back at previous generations, how many people got R1/capped of the newly released skills? So eventually, there's not much point to dungeoning but to make money, and make your total level number as high as you can, so either at that point, you'll be either becoming a socialite or dropping the game until new content comes out. And the first step to becoming a socialite in Mabinogi is by delving into the game known as Fashionogi. D:
Gold to clothing is a waste. Gold to blacksmithing however...
hmmmmmmmm
My fashionogi success was with my slender robe of Blinding.
ahhh memories.

*raises hand*
I will threaten to block my friends now, because of the obnoxious red/white flashy that they put on stuff, or just flashy in general. The only one I can really stand is the white one that goes from almost white to white, very slowly. People think I'm insulting them when I say they hurt my eyes (sometimes I am), but most of the time, I'm just getting more and more irritated because it gets really difficult to just be anywhere near them, let alone next to them.
I can detect subtle color shifts fairly well, so sudden color shifts that demand so much attention just make my eyes and brain tired.

The biggest appeal of Flashy Clothing is to give something for other people to complain about. If everyone just wore non-flashy clothing, then there will be less complaining. What would be the fun in that?

This. I've rarely seen a rich person who doesn't have some kind of rich flashy (not those crappy green to blue ones that cost like 400k).
They aren't crappy! I actually collect those. Before my wardrobe change, I had like 4 stocked up. Wait, we are talking about the green-teal-blue slow flashy dyes right?
Anywho, I only have those flashy dyes on small parts of my wardrobe. Such as the muffler on the Lacard's Robe, the goggle on the Goggle Cap, and the straps on the Tight Tri-Lined Gloves. It's so slow and subtle, my friends are like "Ohhhh, when did you get a shiny muffler."

Well, no offence to the people who I know, but wearing flashy clothing does send a type of message across to other people.
Especially flashy and high-value/gachapon clothing.
1. You want attention
2. You might be annoying
3. You have too much money
I rather have a non-flashy GLS than a flashy one, but I don't feel like changing the colour. I'd rather buy a new one, but I don't see the need to at all since I hardly wear high-value clothing.
A lot of people will rather sell the flashy dyes they get and not use them.
The only exception of flashy I do not really regret putting is on shiny star earrings, just to fit the name. The trouble is that even with a gold/yellow flashy it doesn't really show up much on the actual item.

Haha, if I didn't want to save up for bat boots, I'd skip over the flashy dye, or I'd get it, then drop it in the middle of Dunbarton Channel 1 and see what people do.

Sure grab and gone.
They don't see an annoying colour, they see money.

Except people can't pick up dyes from the ground >D That's about the only thing that makes me happy about flashy. That people want them but if I were to drop one, it would just go away XD

I never tried. I thought only the dyes that were the expiry type can't be picked up.

The only flashing dyes I'd bother with is either
A) Their gradient is easy on the eyes (Like the White flashing ones, you'd have to stare at it for a bit to catch the change in tone)
B) They're slow (HUGE plus. The best ones appear to "glow")
Though I'd give the sonuvaguns the finger if they'd release a Red/Blue dye that flashes at the highest speed. (Pardon the language, I'd just totally start boycotting flashies if such a color were to exist. And it's a nod to the banned PKMN episode that gave seizures.)

I wouldn't mind a flashy that goes from orange to blue, to yellow, to purple, to green and to red within 15FPS.
But seriously, flashy dyes are all ugly.

Lol.
Why I liked flashies or at least 1 particular flashy is the red ones the red/black most notably. You CAN NOT get pure red on reg pallet let alone most others and red/black flashies are much more common than red dye amps. For this i will always love red flashies since for about a year by theme was red/black.
I also tend to like them if used well sicne it gives an edge to the clothing. Some flashies i hate no matter what and these being the seizure style (outside of red/black or anyt hat go to similar colors).
I hate white flashies because i see NO point to them. They just make the robe look "dirty" and the fast ones are worst for this.
I like the navy/black flashies, black flashies for adding some spice to dark themes.
The only flashy i like though that i have used for an actual theme is those green/blue flashies because they dont hurt the eyes (in my mind anyway) and the colors compliment each other for the most part.
Plus flashies used to be my income every week on my old old mains while I trained them when iria first came out. So for this i love them.
My only beef with flashies is seizure flashies on mufflers or lava cats and such forth in the main areas since it just pains me, but I don't complain about it since i honestly dont care what others wear i just stick to my own thing.
I tend to stick to themes that have a flashy available to them but that i can dye without the use of special fixed dyes. In other words no pure blue, green, or red anymore for me. My event royal blue with black is pretty dam slick imo.

White flashy isn't that great.
I had one on a grace shawl dress. It is the main reason why I do not like to wear it.
So I found the guts to dye it off today with a regular dye ampule. (Even in previous post I said I'd rather buy a new one but the problem is that the price of the item is not stable and there is a risk that prices will fall with manuals if they are ever released so I am waiting to see.)

Hehe. I dyed over the blue/white flashy on the main part of an Admiral, and it turned brown or something. I was so happy, but my guildie flipped out.
