I agree with kitaek on this part in particular, because I'm a user of New Posts. I missed a couple of good discussions because of the floor of spam.
A one day thing is fine, but every month? I also agree it should be at most two-times yearly or a yearly thing.
I'm ok with the RP event though.
o.O
Hasn't it been said that the event thing was a joke?

Oh, so all that posts only containing that weird link was part of the spam event. I thought it was a normal thing after a new meme from 4chan popped up or something. I guess that explained something.
I kind of like the RP thing, but I haven't figured out how to act like my character yet, lol.

Now I hear it...
I was under the impression it might not be...

I swear it was said a couple of times.
Too lazy for evidence.

The spam really went overboard...
I pressed New Posts after I finished a chapter of my book, and there were literally 8 topics that all said "Started by _________, 1 Hours Ago." from Ma/b/inogi.

Perhaps we should remove the spam section from the "latest posts" section. Is this possible? If we did this, folks could run wild over there still, and everyone else wouldn't have to put up with it. Win win?

It was in the amusement park. And joke or not, we had more spam activity than /jp/. Congrats; we topped the posting activity of one of the main boards on 4chan.

no, spam section holds a lot of legit discussions worth being in 'new posts'.

I'm cool with that.
During the spamsplosion, I was actually browsing spam via the section, not "latest posts".

Wut.
My understanding is General Discussions -> Everything Else = legit discussions. Spam is, just that, spam.

Spam topic leading to discussions legit enough to keep in check.

They belong in spam. Yet thread holds like that of "everything else"
Ah, I see what you're getting at. Still, I don't see this as a valid reason to ask people to stop... well, spamming in the spam section. Annoying as it may be, that's what it's there for. Sure, we can definitely cut back ie the Zufall issue, but taking it too far would kill a good amount of our much needed activity and camaraderie.

Not asking them to stop. Just don't endorse an event where incoherent nonsensical posting is promoted. Don't even make a joke event thread. It really took off yesterday.

I see. Agreed completely. I honestly feel like the announcement - joke or no - was a bit too far, especially considering the chaos that followed.

1. Keep the New Posts button.
2. Make a New Spam button.
Minimal change but makes everyone happy right?

When I click new posts the threads I've read disappear :u . I know it's logical.
Is there something in my settings to see the ones I've read as well? :u
