So, i appear to be stuck on rank d weaving, i read somewhere to try only making silks cause higher ranks need a lot of the thick threads, but i keep getting fine/common/finest.
And i hate gathering cobwebs, its so boaring and i keep accedently clicking on the group of spiders i have trapped behind a tree.
Should i just get some sheep stuck and mine them with my upgraded gathering knife, im likeing the look of fabrics more and more.

Then, go ahead and try it. Either way, it is a long rank. Not as long as rA though.
You can avoid clicking on spider by two ways, load healing or carry a bow without arrows. If you are doing the trap spider behind tree method, come back every few minutes and pick the web up. While waiting, do something else.

I haven't gone too far into weaving, but isn't it the other way around? By that I mean to ask, shouldn't you focus on fabrics because you're going to need a ton of silks for rank 8?

I'm also stuck on rD, it suuuuuucks. T_T I'm doing the cobweb approach and I seem to make a good amount of cheap silks. If you're able to get sheep stuck, more power to you. Also, it would be awesome if you could tell me how to do that o_o

Web is easier to collect than wool, but fabric gives more experience than silk. I did my rD with wool, but it's a matter of which you'd rather grind on.
You can usually find a lot of stuck sheep in Emain, just keep channel hopping.

It won't matter either way, no matter how much thin/thick thread you collect, it will seem like it is never enough. People go cheap silks because cobwebs are supposed to be easier to collect, but sort of harder to make. Cotton is harder to collect, but you get more options in terms of prof.

That helps a lot, now i know how to not kill my spider farms lol.
And getting sheep stuck isnt hard, just get a wolf pet and play around, i suppose it can be done with taming a wolf, but i usualy log onto my wolf to get them stuck as its much easier to control its motions.

I have to say, the grass looks greener on the other side. I thought the same thing as you when I was doing Rank D Weaving, but once you actually try it, you find that silks are always, always much better than fabrics (if you have a good spider farm set up) because the rate of gathering cobwebs exceeds the rate of gathering wool. That 0.30% exp looks tempting yes, but Finest Fabric rarely comes up and it's still outweighed by the rate at which you can churn out cheap silk with a decent spider farm. And yea, as Endless said, charge healing or equip a bow w/o arrows; I personally use my ego bow because that starves it at the same time and I can just feed it the used Silk Spinning Gloves.
EDIT: I got ninja'd by Ninjam himself ;___;

Yeah, in all seriousness cobwebs are much easier to get, and are more reliable exp. Remember, cheap fabrics only give 0.05, so that pretty much outweighs the 0.30 from finest fabrics. Silk may be harder to make, but I find that with 180 dex, in a production party, and on Monday, it's not hard to get high success rates.

Supposedly, Monday gives higher quality on Life Skill production, and since you want cheap silks, you don't want that. It is best for you to get r1 production mastery (ideal), and just transform each time you want to make silks. Don't weave cheap silks on Monday. Probably better if you do the Fabrics on Monday, maybe.

im already fine with my success rates, 210 dex and r1 production mastery cause i capped my archery skills (cept magnum, r5 still)
Its the fact that i got 10 cheap out of about 40 attempts, and thats all i got before i got board of weaving.

Do wool, its far more effective.
Gather wool with an upgraded knife with a bunch of wool bags on stuck sheep in emain, weave them into thick threads and stash on a mule
Wait until Monday's daily effect, by the Finest Wool Weaving Gloves, and go crazy (aim for 99% success rate/pally/party/w/e)
Currently 97.95 ^^;

I did Rank D entirely on silks. So when it came to Rank A I had enough of silks and did cloth instead after filling up half requirements with silks.
No harm doing either one, except that you will spend more if you make cloth.

Switch between the two when you get bored.
Personally, I got most of my training from shearing sheep, but I think I made all the stuck sheep in all channels of Ruairi naked by that time. I'd recommend getting a 14 dur gathering knife from Shadow Missions or Rabbie Advanced and proffing that up as you go because you will get that to 5/5 upgrades by the time you're done with rD weaving.
