Is it just me....that feels the direction Mabinogi is going is really going off wrong?
Some of the people I know don't even go to dungeons anymore. Main reason being rafting exploitation.
Although they fixed the rafting boat glitch (which people exploit for thunder reasons), that's not stopping people from training over there. And I get requests for also tickets onto the hobgoblin area which makes me sick.
I can't help feel that what they (the developers) could do is to nerf all the exp and gold from the rafting hobgoblins and instead give exp rewards at the rafting stations.
Thunder Rank 1 is not the only thing people are doing at these rafting areas. With new updates, people are botting flame burst and water cannon at these areas as well, along with chain cylinder.
The other thing I want to say is about overpowered items in Mabinogi, like enchants coming off gachapon and book relics of G11. Just today, somebody came into the mission rushing off to the rooms just to grab the puzzle relics. I was wondering if with snow spiders, people will also do the same thing.
Greed cannot be stopped, but can't they at least do something to minimise such unpleasant player experiences?

I totally agree with you there. All the new stuff and ideas are pretty cool but something always gets left behind. They should improve the dungeons and make them more exciting to do instead of simply making the monsters stronger and multi-aggro.
Maybe something like more equipment at the reward chest or even more of those chest rooms, maybe more experience, something that requires teamwork (I don't mean a party to simply kill monsters). They could even add the new stuff in the old towns instead of making a new region each time.

Sounds like the problem is more with the botting/glitching than with the developers.
Though, I would still agree they're not playing their cards right.

1. Convince DevCat to update existing content.
2. Throw out Nexon NA.
Fixed.

Rafting rewards are high...?
Even with r1 Thunder, there's still the wand dura usage and it only gives 10k gold for 31+ stars.
Some other Shadow Missions give more than that =/

10k"ish" exploration experience
20 mana herbs / 2 tipping suits + other reward
Crash Shot outperforms Thunder while rafting and is less expensive to maintain.

The idea is for the rewards to be higher and the hobgoblin exp lower, to discourage botting.

Like I said before... what I dislike about Mabinogi is how new content ALWAYS replaces old content. I.e. Dungeons - > Shadow Missions. Rano Exploration Quest - > Cor. etc.
The reason being is that Mabinogi keeps shifting directors to the point that the original dream of Mabinogi is lost as the new directors completely replaces them with their "own dreams".

I can get through 3-4 rafts and only use up 1 wand dur.
A shadow mission takes like 2-4 dur, hence the higher gold reward.

I use it for mirage (on a raft, of course) ;o;
Legit players should not be punished for the actions of stupid people. I've tried training mirage elsewhere but I can't find other mobs as tightly packed as them. It would be so much better to train in Rundal HM if I didn't go through so many stamina (magnum) and MP(mirage) pots for training.

Well people can still train skills with those hobgoblins but what I feel is that they should just take away the exp of hobgoblins because of the abusers at rafting.
There are certain areas at hobgoblins that you can glitch without affecting other people anyway.
I do agree about the old content being left behind though I was talking more about how they should not overlook the problems of old content and also new content - feel they are affecting the balance of the game a lot by introducing problems that causes unpleasant interactions between players.
The problem is with both the botting/glitching and the developers. I can't believe how the problem is left open for such a long time when such a simple solution can be effected almost immediately without much problems. (exp can still be compensated as part of the rewards from rafting stations.) You can't get money/items from those hobgoblins if you are playing legit anyway.

If I remember correctly (and correct me if I am wrong >_<).
During the latest interview with the two new directors of mabinogi stated they are going to remake all the old mainstream content for G13s2 (i'm guessing adding new cutscenes, character models, voice overs simular to G13 I hope)
Hopfully they will review some old elements of Mabinogi as well. Dungeons, maps(tir, dunbarton, all maps in between...). I read something about the Iria saga getting renewed as well.... I hope they look at exploration during the Iria renewal, and not just the mainstream ;x

I don't know, that sounds like way more than devCat is capable of.
Not getting my hopes up.

I rather they fix the small things first before they come to bigger things like that.
You reminded me of the exploration system flaw. Exploration is a big flop in the sense that it requires soloing for the most efficient exploration exp gain. Would like to see more incentives to party for exploration as well.

Hmm... Campfires should be made useful for exploration. :D
