Annoying slow dodge is pretty annoying.
Though I only used Evie for the tutorial intro section to try her out, her normals are so slow (and I'm too used to rushing up to the enemy due to excessive Fiona playing).

It's just you. I love my Evie.

I guess it really just depends on your play style.

Her play style obviously isn't for everyone, but she currently has my attention over my Fiona. It's a good change of pace, imo.

I'm in love with my Evy, seriously. I love her little jump backs (it's enough to swing/jump back normal mobs, then use magic). And I love using firebolt then jumping back out of range (or running). :D And I -love- being able to heal party members. I can't wait till I get further along.

Haven't even made it out of the first boat yet, but unlike Fiona, I just can't think of a way that Evie could solo something like The Reaper. Lann at least has double slip dashes, and someone else could comment better on Lann's solo ability, but if a Fiona's shield breaks against the Reaper, you really run into extremely dangerous territory. Evie has a weaker dash and no shield, so yeah. Just my initial thoughts.

I'll leave my thoughts unsaid until I get her a scythe.

Eh.. so far, I think Evie's pretty boring :S (Lv. 12)
I'm just playing until she gets a Scythe, then I'll decide

i had so much problems with clifford "the gnol chief" with a party of evies that really disappointed me, her dash was not working good for me =(

i think she can solo but it would take forever to cheap away health from big bosses
well maybe evie is just not my style im fine with that.

I'm enjoying playing as an Evie, though I think I'm doing it wrong.
/mostly uses melee with the occasional Firebolt on large mobs
Sure, her dodge is meh and slowish, but for what I've been fighting so far, it's more than enough. I'm enjoying the practical imperviousness with the magic shields, haven't even lost any HP yet, even when I soloed the Gnoll Chieftain, which is a lot more than I can say for when I'm at my best with Lann. Eagle Talon is awesome, especially when soloing, since I can run circles around enemies to charge it, then release it for a very good chance to knockdown or stun enemies, which then allow me to either start up a Smash4 combo, or start charging up a Firebolt safely.
Though so far, the only thing I don't like about Evie is how you can't grab enemies. How am I supposed to get the special throw titles if I can't even grab my enemies? :<

Not that hard, the hard part for me was aiming the spears to knock his helmet off. Dx
But if you understand his AI and signs for attacks, it's quite simple to avoid. After the overhead hammer swing, which is easily dodged by either using the dodge off to the side of him when he comes down, or even by running around, he gives you enough time to charge up a Firebolt without retaliation. His spin attack has you keep a distance away, since you can't really escape it if you're in range like you can with Lann or Fiona, but by sprinting, you can charge up Eagle Talon to land once he stops, potentially stunning him, thus opening up another Firebolt. When Firebolt is in cooldown, even after using Stamina Restoration, just use Eagle Talon followed by a Smash3, Smash2 if you don't think you'll have enough time, Smash 4 if you were just barely out of range from his attack. Not as damaging as Firebolt, but Smash4 also has a good chance to stun. Magic Arrows are your friend if you want to completely play it safe, even if it'll take you like 100 blasts, if not more, to kill him.
Sure, I haven't tried him on Hard Macha, but even Hard Gnoll Chieftain was easy and not that damaging if you know what you're doing. As I said, the hard part in my fight with him was aiming the spear, because I'm used to Lann's and Fiona's normal over the shoulder view compared to Evie's hip view.
And well, the only other thing that annoys me about Evie is that I can't access the Marketplace or the cash shop, so I can't do much. I want to get more inventory space since I'm almost out, and I want to buy some cheap materials so I can craft the Scarlet Witch set. D:

Why couldn't Evie solo anything?
I mean, now you have a character that's ranged, you can literally keep running and shooting stuffs forever.
Unless you're so impatient, you want to finish the dungeon within 5 minutes. Then that's just you.

TA wrote on 2010-10-27 23:49
Maybe you and your party are just bad and don't know how to use Evie? No offense. I solo'd the Chieftain pretty easily. In fact... I've solo'd everything so far without a problem.
