I think we're actually more talking about the LLB and other bows used as non egos though. =X

Nope, LLBs are like Gladii/Maces: perfectly well-rounded, adaptable upgrades, very good back-up, great ego, durable, easy-to-get.
End-game "base" weapon, basically.

What is the appeal to the Elven Long Bow besides the range? The critical is too low to work with and the damage is decent at best. And I'm working with monsters with 30-40% protection so critical is hard for me to drop.

There is one path on the Elven Long Bow that gives 46% Crit, but the damage range on it is 6~20, so it's quite weak compared to, say, the Elven Short Bow with 47% crit and a 9~32 max damage range. However, I CAN see the ELB being argued in favor of for those who have enough dex to where the majority of their damage comes from their own stats and enchants, rather than from the attack of the bow itself. In that case, the ELB would be viable because of the high crit, 46%, and the long range on it (keeping it's 2000 range) which would result in a faster aim speed. Not to mention it would stun monsters for longer, which is really helpful for those o slower connections or for those who Mag Shot a lot.
Adori, for the Elven Short Bow, what upgrade path would you suggest between the 103 (10~41 w/ 39 crit) and the 127 (9~32, 47 crit)? I find myself leaning towards the 127 because of the situation I stated above, where most of your damage doesn't come from your weapon, but I'd like to hear your thoughts as well as another proponent of the ESB.

Wingbow Reward from beating red dragon (drop), Ringbow (chance of getting it from wyvern mini game 10 big stars, Or perfectly restored pelvis fossil which is impossible). LLB is still the best.
Exactly How is it the best? On Ruari, I always saw plenty of Ring Bows on the House Channel. I see them all the time. Wing Bow I can understand, but then again, people have gotten some from Synthesis. How is it still the best bow when other bows outclass it in it's specific areas? It's more of a balanced bow, but not the best.

Really high raw damage after upgrades for magnum for monsters that have too high protection to land critical hits on, 2 hit knock back for safety.
LLB from mission drops have higher durability than most of the other bows, along with some more balanced stats so it's not all that bad

We have to be fair, we're compairing bows that don't even have gem upgrades yet, to bows that have been calculated, and modded to hell and back for alittle over 2 years now (on NA loololol)
I'm sure when we get those upgrades, one of the aforementioned paths will be able to compensate with the other .... since I don't know the gems I just said 103, since enchants alone can make that critical difference.
EDIT:
Actually. After enchants, I'd probably prefer 127. XD...
wth, let's just make 2.

AFFFFFFFF iFail. Sorry Adori, I totally just realized that I put Kyou instead of you when asking about the ESB. SUPER SORRY T____T
Anyways, yea, when I compare the two paths I don't really bother calculating in enchants because....both bows can get the same enchants, so when you take the dfferential between the two bows, the enchants subtract themselves and thus you're still left with the same difference between the two bows with and without enchants.
Speaking of which, Lizard Spike Elven Short Bow taken on the 127 path. With all kickers in effect, 12~46 damage with 57 crit. That sounds absolutely delicious. Add in a few more max and crit? maybe for S-rank carpentered bow and oh god I can't wait for freaking Carpentry to come in so I can get my grubby little elf hands one of those.

After you get a certain amount of dex and +damage enchants, the damage on bows becomes less important compared to the critical rate of the bow. Range of the bow is also important because it has faster aim for bows with longer range. Wing Bow has both of these properties as well as the 2 hit knockdown someone mentioned. It is also a fast speed bow as well.
Bow damage only matters if you are comparing a maxed ego to a regular bow, assuming you have enough critical.
Whoever got them from synthesis sure isn't selling them...

I know about the need for crit. 190 Xbow and a.....I forgot the prof but the max damage and crit Long Bow, from a Shadow monster...I think it was a archer? But mainly, I'm confused by your reponse.......exactly what were you saying? I know fully well the Wing Bow has all of that (currently might get Arlekiel to synthesize one after I get some more money, I'm a supplier for him for Cuilin stones). Still not too sure what you were saying though. I was responding to when Sooni said even with Ring and Wing bows, LLB is still the best......*doesn't see how regardless*
