Plastic Surgery

  Plastic surgery is stupid if it's just to make a person more beautiful. There are times when I think plastic surgery is fine, mostly for things like disfiguring injuries. But pumping your face and body full of chemicals and plastics to make your nose a little more straighter or your face rounder is stupid and really doesn't make any sense.
  
  Makeup and other cosmetics is okay, as long as it's not over done. A little mascara or eye liner can help accentuate a person's looks better than if they weren't wearing any makeup. But the main difference as to why I think makeup is okay and plastic surgery isn't is because makeup is temporary. If you don't like it, you can always wash it off. You can always take out those contacts. They're not permanent, so they're more of an extension instead of a modification. A person that goes to have plastic surgery to make themselves believe they are beautiful are often, to me, uglier than someone who puts on a little makeup and is happy with what they got, even if after the surgery the person comes out as an 11.

  If I were looking for a guy, I'd look for the one that likes me for my personality, not my looks. There's a difference between love and lust. Someone who has the courage to go out in public with no makeup, circle lenses, etc. wins in my book. I don't really see how looking nice gets you further...except for jobs that require a certain build(modeling, etc.) I can see how looks may cause issues when you're obese though. It's basically a curse telling you to either become healthier or die.

  Personally, I don't really care about people getting plastic surgery, but overdoing it (just like with anything) would be... well, overdoing it.
  
  I wear makeup not because I don't like how I look, but because I think I look better with it. Why do you go and buy clothes you like instead of picking things out of the clearance bin constantly? You try to make yourself look tidy and neat and clean.. or whatever look you're aiming for.
  
  I'd love to get double eyelid surgery (1.5 eyelid is tough to deal with!), but that's not really plastic, soo..

  Looks matter a lot. Physical attraction is an important part of a relationship.

  If a guy "falls in love with me" because of the way I look and not because of my personality, then I have an issue with that. If I change an aspect of myself, it will be because it makes ME more comfortable. If he doesn't like me how I am, he can just pass me by and I don't care, because whatever I saw in him before will probably just be obscured by the fact that he can't get over a physical fault. Luckily, it's not the kind of guy I fell for, and I don't think anyone should fall for someone who's so focused on looks that they can't see the beautiful human being that is there

  ^Love is based off of personality, and how well they both mesh, and obviously looks. Yes you can learn to love a person that isn't easy on the eyes, its quite possible. Rare but it happens. (IE: Aliyene SP?). For example you go to a bar, your good looking, obviously people are going to approach you. Some just want a one night thing (bad personalty) others will actually try and get to know you (good personality).

  Job interviews. Certain types of jobs require a certain standard so you don't shame the company. (tattoos, piercings) Why do you think tattoos have to be hidden if you want a decent job?

  Looks mean a lot in our society. It seems superficial, but I guess that's how it works now.
  There's a lot of competition, and being pretty gives you a leg up.

  Definitely. Go for the guy who loves your personality, but who also loves your looks. :)
  
  Don't go for the guy who just likes your looks and couldn't care less about what you have to say.
  
  If you like someone's personality, but are not attracted to their looks, then it's that's not a good way to start a relationship. Those types of people we call friends. :)

  It's a natural reaction to be less attracted to less attractive people. Again, first impressions aren't just based on how shallow you are and how much you care about looks. No matter how much of a great personality you have, if you're ugly enough to make a baby cry (to exaggerate and put it bluntly), people will make contact with you less.

  As for makeup... I don't see a need for it either. But again, it's up to the person. Most girls find the need to over do it way to much, and that's just disgusting. And a lot of my guy friends say they don't really care if girls wear make up or not, it's the personality that counts. Maybe that's because they aren't douche bag guys though. ;)

  Honestly, I would. Ever seen Home Alone 1 and 2? The old man in Home Alone 1 ends up saving Kevin and the old lady in Home Alone 2 ends up saving(? can't remember) and helping Kevin. They also save him from loneliness. Kevin was terrified of the old man and woman, but as he got to know them, they became friends.

  Attractive to me means the person has a good personality. If you don't talk to someone because you think they are "ugly", then that's just really shallow. If someone did that to me, then I wouldn't talk to them at all.

  I love it when my Mom or my sister get all dressed up and put on some make-up for a formal event.
  
  It's all about looking extravagant or really outdoing yourself for a certain place or whatnot.
  
  I mean, you could describe it to buying really nice clothing. Why do we do it? 'Cause we wanna look great, sexy even. But of course, there's a different place and time for everything. One shouldn't wear crazy makeup to everywhere or nice formal dresses to a picnic, you know what I mean?

  First of all, I wouldn't even approach the guy and I'd probably avoid him at all costs.
  
  A lot of you guys are talking about the fake aspect being a huge turn off.
  But what about plastic surgery to reduce the size of a large nose or double eyelid surgery (uses the same skin).
  
  What about people who are born naturally beautiful that get an easier life thanks to that fact?
  What about men, who can't wear makeup in public without receiving strange looks?

  But how would you get the urge to want to get to know the person without something drawing you to them in the first place?
