Mark of Ignition: The character loads a transparent-ish fireball and becomes immobile (until the fireball is shot), the fireball has a huge AoE radius but does not do any damage and applies the status "mark of ignition". When the spell is casted again with 1+ targets marked, it has a 0.1 sec load time and when executed, the character snaps his/her fingers and the marked targets are ignited with flames from hell. The flames do DoT damage based on the targets' current health and cripples their atk and move speed.

Well if you paid attention to what I said earlier, you will notice the not when ur channeling the magic itself in brackets. So technically, one could finish channeling the magic spell, sustain it, and then kinda pull out a shield. The character would have to take away the shield again when he or she decides to channel another adv magic spell. Using a staff+shield in melee combat wouldn't work out so great either (when you're snapping you aren't swinging it around like a mad man).
Wielding a staff and sword would also be like a human dual wielding blunts or elves dual wielding daggers, possible but not implemented.
Wandless chaincast is definitely possible if your character ever gets to that level of awesomeness (take Mores for example). But until then, a wand will be needed to help moderate magic channeling.
I don't see what you meant with the Bolded part.
That's because of how overpowered some of those combinations are...
The point of the Staff is to trade the Possibility of a shield slot for more power, since it can cast all 3 Int. Magics if charged to the limit, plus the Future hailstorm.
Wands have the advantage of letting you run while Meditating, harvesting elementals, increasing Element specific Damage, letting you use a shield, CC and a shield.
But it's not like people still use bolts that much.. pure Magicians tend to use IS/TH as if they were a bolt...
So yeah...
Also... an Elf with Dual Wield... doesn't the elf have benefits in Magic and Ranged battles already..?
I always thought Elves were the Assassins in this game, forced to use one dagger, can use Hide and have an amazing run speed...
What we need is Advanced and Int. Healing..
