I'll ditch Mabinogi completely for Mabinogi 2 should it have the following;
1. The familiar "skill-based" combat system
2. A similar, yet improved pet system
If we can't transfer information from our current character to characters in Mabinogi 2, i'll stop spending NX right now.

It's a different game, of course you wouldn't be able too.
Not like you can transfer everything from Kingdom Hearts in to Kingdom Hearts 2, or with any sequel to a game. (Unless I'm missing something)

The Golden Sun, .hack, Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age and Mass Effect series say "Hi", and are just a few examples of games that transfer characters and data over to their sequels. But of course, those are console games, where as we're talking about MMOs, so you're comparing apples to oranges. The main reason as to why there most likely won't be a transfer is because it'll take
alot of work to take the Pleione engine apart, read each character data, translate them into the new engine, make sure there aren't any bugs with any revamp to skills and items, then put them in a server of the user's choice so that they can remain on the same server as their friends. That's a lot of work, to the point that most sequels to MMOs don't bother with transferring characters over to the new game.

Unless! *idea* they have a way to take your current info of your character, turn it into a chart readable by the Pleione engine and the new engine, then when Mabinogi II is release you can submit that form to the new engine via your accounts. Then you could log in and upload your skills to the new server/character. Choose your looks and then start the game with all your previous skills.
I don't know, maybe I'm crazy xD
But if would be pretty awesome if you could transfer, I'd play it then. I don't want to have spent all my hard work to have to do it over again. I will however play both, I'll just play Mabinogi more that it's sequal.

The problem with switching characters over from one game to the other is; data might get mixed up; lost etc.
People would get upset not having flashy robes or their expensive teddy bear for example.
Unless Nexon gets better staff; i dont trust them with my character.

I wouldn't really want any of my stuff, (cause I don't really having anything worth keeping) I'd want the new stuff, items aren't much of something I'm big on, I'd just want my skills to carry over. I can get new clothing/weapons etc.

It'd be cool if they did have a transfer reward system which gave you benefits for having accomplished certain things in Mabinogi.
A direct transfer would be too much. But having a few benefit here and there would be very nice.

Thats why I struggle with working on my elf and stuff, I hate that I've put so much work into my main and I can't change everything over with me, I will try mabinogi two but unless its as loose about character builds the way that mabi is, then I won't last longer then a week on it before running back to my friends on mabi :<

Mabinogi II might be completely new but it might have a chance to give special "older" players some achievement. Like AP porportional to what you gain in mabi (such as if you're total level 3000, you get 500 ap to start off with)...
But not all of it of course... can you imagine...
Level 6000 in Beta of Mabinogi II... haha

I do wonder though.
According to Kitae, one reason to change heroes to vindictus was because mabi was poorly received and they didn't want people to asociate the names. If this were true, then chances of getting this localized are low.
Unless... Nexon changes Mabinogi II to Vindictus II: The Fomorian counterattack!

the GBA -> DS Pokemon games
I'm hoping Mabinogi 2 would just run off like an upgraded Pleione engine, that way it could still read the data (backwards compatible)?
I'd play it if my computer could handle it like mabi, (it kinda reached the limit with DemiGod on mabi xD)
