Honestly a better alternative would be to make r1 meditation actually good when it comes out. Make it so that some of the damage dealt from regular bolts comes back as 1-2 mana for the mage and maybe a little more for adv magic. As well as a slitghyl faster recovery rate. Meditation as a skill ranks below sharp mind in its usefulness atm.

How about replace Meditation with Mana Charge?
When Mana Charge is used:
Load skill for 3 seconds.
Add 20 to player's MP.
Set "cooldown timer" to 120s.
The skill can be used in cooldown, if it is used during the cooldown:
Set cooldown timer back to 120s.
Add 1 to the usage counter.
Take (1 Divided By Current Use Counter), let that be success rate.
If skill succeeds, add 20 MP to player.
Else, take away all MP.
If the cooldown timer hits 0, the skill comes out of cooldown, and the counter is reset to zero.

Hurr, I say we all just do the easiest thing, which is buffing and uncapped meditation and either make it unable to work with MS up or make it work less.

Blood Price-
Make it so that you give up HP in exchange for MP, the more Will you have the more MP you get.
Either that, or after you run out of mana, start using your own HP as a catalyst however, using HP would be more expensive, like 125% at r1.
You can't go past 1HP.

I like the idea of making Meditation tons better.

Mana Shield slowly DRAINS your MP anyway, and that's why I rarely use it.
USING Mana Shield laos takes away some MP, keep that in mind.

You know what function I've liked in some games that've had mages?
Well, this idea is just from, like, Dragon Quest 8/9 and Recettear where if a mage attacks an enemy with their staff/wand they'd regen some MP or steal it from the enemy, based on their damage.
Those were nice additions that helped alleviate MP costs of casting spells as their main offense, but didn't offset the MP drainage of using magic so much as to eliminate the usefulness of potions.
What if all wands in Mabi regen'd 1 Mana for every... I dunno, 10 damage, rounded to the nearest whole mana point (even though Mabi uses fractions of Mana lol), you did with a regular physical attack?

But would it be worth it hitting thing for Mana? Just imagine how hard this will be for pure Mages, and to those who aren't using a Combat Wand..
Small MP for Shorter Durability.

I would like to see clothes that have a set bonus that regenerates something like 5mp per 10 seconds.
On Topic: A mana drain skill would be nice, but I can't even begin to imagine how it would play out in mabinogi. I would assume if it was alchemy it would use a crystal of some sort. It would be a nice skill to have for anyone if you could find a way to make it work.

It's better than nothing. And I'm not sure what difference a combat wand would make, not much difference in melee damage between wands. xD
It'd be better for ego wands, though, since they do more damage.

But the swap to the cylinder means that you lose all your mana. Not worth it imo.

What if the mana drain skill took out hp for mp? like you used your hp to drain your opponents mp. It would be like a last resort thing or something...and at like r1 it would take away more of your hp but it would stop taking it at around 1

you don't lose MP when you swap out cylinders xD
You're thinking of wands.

Also a reason why this skill wouldn't work, monsters all have seemingly infinite MP/Stam.
